No - I am not talking about Santa's list.

I am talking about your list.  The one you have made about 2007.  The one where you list all the things that you did that were effective and profitable.  And the also important list where you show all the mistakes you have made.

For me, I have done very well in developing scripts for working with the internet-enabled client.  Using some of the skills from my coach training, I am able to guide prospects into a place of trust and safety.  From that place we are able to work as a team to find the perfect level of service in meeting their goals.

I personally abhor the trend toward mass produced, drip campaigns.  It seems that with the growth of the internet-enabled client, the only advise that the "gurus" offer is to call the prospect back quickly and enter their information into a drip campaign.  If you were on the other end of that kind of transaction - how personal would that feel to you?

On the "bad" side, I got so excited about the value of internet leads that I signed up for a neighborhood site that has enormous potential.  But found that the potential is of no actual value to me because I cannot manage the time to do the local work needed to maximize it's profitability.  Now, six months into a year contract, I am trying to figure out how to minimize my losses - or - pick up the gauntlet and give this site more attention.

What I have learned from this mistake is that I will never sign a contract for a year's service from a company until I am certain that the investment of time and money is worth the return - and in a timely fashion, not a year from now.  It has been a costly lesson.  But I am pretty certain that the lesson is learned.

Can you name the best thing you did for your business in 2007?  Are you willing to admit the biggest mistake you made in the same time period?  How can you duplicate the good and eliminate the bad in 2008?

For me...at the beginning of the year I write a "To do list", not your daily average to do list but one for the year, I cross out what I have accomplished and add more on as the year goes. I'm working on this years list as we speak. Writing it down and keeping up with your progress has always worked very well for me. Best wishes in 2008 for you.

Kathi I have a to do list at the beginning of each year and try to update it as often as I can.  My biggest mistake in 2007 was that I didn't update it often enough,  Karen
