Buyer's Market or Seller's Market - I Don't Want My Name On It!

Thank Goodness (For The Seller) It was A Seller's Market....

A few days ago, I wrote about walking in on naked sellers. It reminded me of another experience I had a few years ago with nakedness and showing homes.

One lovely afternoon while out showing condo homes to a local minister and her husband, we walked into a condo and immediately stopped dead in our tracks. Much to our chagrin, the occupant of this unit had covered absolutely every inch of every wall with Hustler and Playboy centerfolds. I couldn't believe my eyes. Fortunately, my clients had a sense of humor and we quickly viewed the home and moved on.

Had the market been different, I might have already previewed and would have eliminated this listing, but we were working at a time when properties were going under contract minutes after they were listed. Later, when I spoke to the listing agent and mentioned my distaste for the "decor", his response was "Why should I care? It's a seller's market. This unit will be sold anyway." What an attitude. The property did sell. I wonder if the agent would still care today.

Buyer's market or Seller's market. I would never have put my name on that listing.

The attitudes of some listing agents are simply mind blowing. I wouldn't want my name attached to a property like that either.

I walked in a naked man in the shower in a vacant house.  I still haven't figured that one out yet.  He tried to run out after me to explain but I really wasn't sticking around to find out what he was doing or why.  I did call the agent to let them know that their "vacant" properties wasn't exactly empty.
