Friends and neighbors, whether you're in Tennessee or Maryland or New York or wherever, please give me a chance to help your friends find a good agent.   It might lead to a serendipity like this one.    (Silver Spring agents, as soon as Dan tells Eva who he's found to help her find a good agent, I'll be needing one of you to help.)

Most of the serendipities I’ve blogged about are things that happened over the many years I’ve been in real estate.  This one happened half an hour ago.    A voice tonight said “This is a voice from your past – Dan Webber.”

I told him I was sitting in sight of the beautiful cabinet with diamond panes that he had bought for me at an auction – I don’t remember how many years ago.   He knew I had a lot of books and thought this piece he saw at an auction might be good for them.   I trusted his taste and judgment and told him to go for it.   That was many years ago and I treasure it still.

The call tonight was because he had a friend who wanted to talk to someone about selling her house.    When I was an agent in Maryland, I’d helped Dan and Chrissie with a couple of transactions and although I am now in Tennessee, he thought maybe I could help her somehow.   “Of course,” I told him.     I frequently help people find good agents in other parts of the country, and I still have a lot of good friend agents in Maryland.

He named the street that his friend Eva lived on.   I said I knew that street – I’d sold at least one house on that street and had done a lot of work in that neighborhood.

He told me a little more about Eva.   She was thinking about selling the house and moving to be closer to her son, now that her husband had died.   Dan's naming him, putting those two names together, triggered a memory immediately.   I had known that couple many years ago and remembered several times I’d been at their home.

When I told Dan this was another serendipity to add to my collection, he mentioned another one I’d forgotten.   When he had brought the cabinet to my house after he’d got it at the auction, he’d told me that when he was a child, his parents used to drive past that very house in Hillandale on Parkman Road in the Spring to admire the azaleas.

That brought to mind several other serendipities associated with that house.   For more, see my blog at www.TNTriCitiesHomes.com – a few of my serendipities are there in short form.   There are a few others, shorter versions, at www.TNTriCitiesHomes.com/serendipities, which come to my web site through Active Rain, the real estate blogging group which is part of how I stay in touch with great agents across the country, learn a lot, and publicize listings.

It makes your whole day to get a call like that. It also makes one feel that you are worth something. I'm glad someone still makes house calls.

That house call was triggered by their coming to an open house I held on their street many years ago.  They were thinking of selling, I visited, and we became friends although they never got around to selling.  Unfortunately, not a lot of Silver Spring agents seem to read my Active Rain blogs so they won't find out about this referral that way.  I do still have a lot of great agent friends there.

I love when this stuff happens...there are no coincidences!!  I know of several great agents in that area.  Let me know if I can be of service in helping you find one!

Warmest Regards,

Thank you, Bridget.   I was in real estate in Montgomery County for 25+ years until we moved here and still have a few good agents that I refer people to, although the list is dwindling as some of them retire.    I hope you'll think of serendipities to add to the group.  I know that "providence" is a better word than "coincidence", but some of them aren't important enough to be in that category.

Tyler, I wish you'd add your own experiences to the Serendipity group.  Surely I'm not the only one these things happen to.

I've posted a couple and no one comments on them :( But I will continue to do so.
