My daughter likes to play soccer in the back yard.  I ask her not to take shots against our fence as it is 14 years old and she is strong enough to break it.

WELL, DOES SHE LISTEN?

You know the answer.

One day last week the dog got out twice in the same day.  Different neighbors brought her home after she visited their house.

One of the neighbors decided that since I was not home (as I am always out in the market place, offering and multiplying my capitalist talents for pecuniary gain), he decided to help me by repairing my fence.

Like most households, we have duct tape in the house.  It is a very useful item, for many things!

Asking my wife for some duct tape, he took it upon himself to "FIX" my fence!

When I got home, I heard the story and the words,  "He did a good job!"

I am tempted to see how long it lasts!

But there you go!  As often as I make fun of duct tape repairs on other people's houses, I can add my own to that list!  I am busted!

FENCE REPAIR - THE TRUTH BE TOLD...

My recommendation:  I am grateful for good and helpful neighbors!  And mine are great people.  They must think I am because they all trust me with their house keys!  But, my recommendation is:  hide the duct tape.

Thanks Bob.  She is the youngest of four kids, with my youngest son just getting back from his fifth all-expense paid trip to Afghanistan.

Jay, Hmmm, add fence repair to the many uses of duct tape!  Wouldn't have thought about that one at all...wonder if it will work on chain link?? :)

Morning Jay if the duct tape had been hidden the dog would still be getting out.  You sir as you so aptly observed are busted.

Jim - I did that with a hard ball, against the brick!  The funniest thing about this is what my wife said!

Harry - I am definitely busted.  But I AM tempted to see how long it lasts!

Joe - I have a book called "Did Monkeys Invent The Monkey Wrench," a history of stuff like this.  It is a fabulous book which you would probably love!  It has the history of duck tape (the real name) and you would find it as interesting as I did.

Jay, that is a wonderful story about your neighbors!  Perhaps your daughter should be on repair duty.

Duct tape seems to carry a lot of responsibility in the world, always being expected to solve so many problems Jay.

I bet we all can find duct tape being used in our own homes in some fashion that we may not want known.

Thanks for the photo.

Good morning Jay,

The duct tape may last longer than the board around it!

If the duct tape came in better colors Id consider using it for repairs around the house but since it doesnt (or maybe it does I have no idea I've only seen the silver) I look for other bandaids until the next closing :)  Thanks for sharing your inspection stories - I learn so much from them!

Jay, After 35+years in the Mack Truck dealership business, I have seen duct tape in places you would not believe. I often wish I had saved some pics.

Thanks Kathy.  But it would never get done!

Tom - one of the most used, or over-used, products in history!

Lisa - that board is 14 years old and you may be right!

Kelly - you are behind the times!  It comes in many colors now.  Go find out!  Glad you like the stories!

Tom - I bet that is surely true!  And yes, you should have some photos!

Jay, Duct tape the whole thing then you do not need to stain or maintain. It would look real sweet too. Kinda manly all silvery and stuff.
