12 Comments on RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER In Wilsonville RITE AID ANNUAL PLANT SALE AND FUNDRAISER
Mary, any fundraiser that has dollars going towards the benefit of our kids is worthwhile! GREAT POST.
Good Morning Joan. Thanks! This is a great fundraiser and all of the proceeds go to Doernbecher's. I have a special place in my heart for them as my younger sister when she was 3 was there for over 3 months. They never did find out what was wrong. One day she stopped, talking, walking, everything except breathing. They did all kinds of brain tests, everything they could in those years (the late 50's) and then took her to Doernbecher's. One day after 3 months or so she just woke up, they never did find out.
My youngest grandson was there for 6 months with Leukemia. He went in at 18 months and has Down Syndrome. My daughter lived up there with him as that is required if possible and I went every day and sometimes spent the night with him so she could go home to her 3 other children. That was about 7 years ago and now he is in remission and doing pretty good. The people at Doernbecher's were more than wonderful to all of us. So, a very special place in my heart.
Hope this was a successful fundraiser. We are so fortunate to have Doernbecher's here - just in case. Is this weather ever going to change? I'm longing for something in the 70's. :)
Debb this was a very good fundraiser is my understanding. Alan and I purchased plants as well and I met the person in charge as we had emailed back and forth for my blogs. She also had me interviewed by a group that was working for Rite Aid doing a documentary. What fun, I have never been on film before, don't know if they will use it, but fun it was.
Did I read the magic words 'plant sale'? Too bad you are so far from here or I would be attending!!!
Barbara-Jo I love plant sales too. I always think when going oh, I won't buy anything I will just look. Sure, I won't, I always do. I think I have almost never seen a plant I did not like or could find a place for.
Mary - out of all the fundraisers none touches my heart so deeply as those for children.
Children are our future. Their innocence is pure and the children and their families deserve to be blessed.
I could not agree more Patricia. It was a very enlightening experience and quite educational when our Grazi was in Doernbecher with leukemia all of those months. So many of these little spiritual beings did not make it here in our world and left to be in His world. It left a huge mark on my daughter and on me. Grazi is in remission now for quite a while and the doctor said that because he is a "Down/Up" child more than likely the cancer will not reappear. We pray for this to be so.
Mary - nothing like combining two great things: plants and a fundraiser for the Doernbecher Children's Hospital. I can't pass a nursery without stopping and buying at least one plant. How nice that this event will help childrenwith Leukemia -such a wonderful cause and with such great prices and spring in full swing, I'm sure you will sell out!
I am pretty sure they did sell out and of course the cause is the best. The prices were something we could not overlook and we came away with some great plants. Plus, I was interviewed in a filming they were doing. Pretty fun it was.
Hey Mary, you should get a hold of that interview - it would be fun to see. ( #10)
Just dropping in to say and hope you're loving this weather, we have make plans one of these days to shoot so video together and have lunch or something. Life sure does get in the way of the best laid plans. Lol.
Hi Debb, I should try and get a hold of it. The interviewer was Annie Tonsiengsom, and she is on my Facebook page now. This is a photo they took of us. As you can see I am dressed for a plant sale. LOL.
I am loving the weather and would love to make plans to shoot video and have lunch, anything. Thanks Debb you are correct life has been a little crazy these past months.
