In Silicon Valley, dozens of homes, residential lots, and other properties come on and off the market daily. Agents use automated alerts from the local multiple listing service (MLS) to track the “inventory” of Silicon Valley homes for sale – and you can, too! Signing up to receive free automated email alerts is easy.
Today’s advanced real estate information web sites offer property search functions that include basic, advanced, and map searches, plus the ability to save properties that interest you for looking at again later. They also provide automated email alerts whenever a property that fits your search specifications come on the market. Since our web site has all these features, we’ll use it to illustrate how to sign up for email alerts in just a few easy steps.
Step 1. Go to my Silicon Valley MLS Search page
Step 2. Click on the “Sign Up For FREE Email Alerts” button in the bottom right corner
Step 3. Fill in contact information and basic search information.
Note: There are many different search parameters available, experiment with the search tool first until you get the results you want. Write down the parameters that fit your needs so you can look at adjusting them later if you want.
Step 4. Click on “Advanced Search” if you would like to include the parameters provided. The “Distressed” button screens for REO/foreclosure and potential short sale properties.
Step 5. Click “SIGN UP” and you’re done!
You will receive an initial confirmation email, and then daily updates when properties that fit your search parameters come on the market. Daily emails include a link to the custom search you create in the system, typically displayed on a map as you see here. You can then click on each property for additional information.
Please take a few minutes and try out the system. Whether you are buying or selling, keeping up with the market provides you with information with which to make sound decisions.
