Corona/Norco School District - Superintendent Kent Bechler
The Association of California School Administration has just awared Kent Bechler, Ph.D., with the 2012 Superintendent of the Year Award. This is Kent's 2nd recognition this year. This is a well deserved award to honor him as an individual for his hard work toward improving and helping every student succeed in the Corona/Norco school district.
Bechler is quoted for saying that " we do the work we do because of our investment into our kid's education: trying to help our students create a better life. We work together to make things possible for the kids and any recognition I receive reflects on the team who work together to make this possible. Corona/Norco has a fabulous team."
This award follows the award he received earlier this year for Administrator of the Year Award.
Baldwin School Superintendent Mark Skvarna is delighted that Kent got the recognition. He is quoted of saying that" I don't think I've ever seen a person nominated or given this award that is more deservind than Kent Bechler. He is a man of integrity and high ethics. It is great to see him being recognized."
Kent Bechler, has also been nominated as one of the finalists to receive the Broad Prize. This is a $1 million dollars award that is given to a large urban school district that shows the greatest academic improvement and performance while at the same time reducing the academic gaps between minority and poor students. This is a true testament of the superintendent's dedication and hard work toward improving the districts test score.
The Corona/Norco School District is competing with Houston Independent School District, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and The School District of Palm Beach County Fla. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, Oct 23 in New York. The winner will receive a total of $550,000 college scholarship awarded to 2013 high school graduate and all the 3 finalists will receive an award of $150,000 college scholarship for their high school graduates.
Kent Bechler is already a winner in the hearts of all Corona/Norco school district parents and students. He has done so much for our school district. Congratulations !!!
