If I havent wished you a Merry Christmas, well..... Merry Christmas.
How was your Christmas? Did you get to spend time with loved ones, visit with your family and most of all, celebrate the true meaning of Christmas - celebrating the birth of baby Jesus over 2000 years ago?
As for me, Christmas at the Yeo's this year marked a significant milestone. We have our little core family now, going past just my husband and I. I have a little one (as most of you know already). This year, we have families visiting from all over the world - literally. Both sets of grandparents are here, my grandpa, my little sister, my husband's sister and her young family.... We have over 20 people visit and to celebrate our new family. It's truly some great time we have together.
This Christmas marks several new lessons for me and I thought would be great to share and inspire others with:
Valuing Those Around Us: We know to love and respect our families. However, I'd like to take this Christmas to challenge all of us to take one step further. To value those around us that we don't know. For example: We get so busy paying for our stuff at the checkout counters at the stores that we just "do our thing", pay for it and leave. How about really stopping by to look this person in the eye, say a big Thank You with a big smile. Or while calling the Showing System to make appointments for our next home showings, after the person has helped us, say more than just a Thank You and put the phone down? Have you ever tried saying, "Thanks for helping me today. I really appreciate you being at work and doing such a great job to help me out. You dont know how much I APPRECIATE you". Dont you think you would brighten this person's day? I can almost bet that the next call he/she picks up, he/she would sound energetic and greet another agent with some "ummmph"!....
Marking Some Milestones: Make every Christmas a milestone instead of just another gift-giving or family-visiting season. Like me, this Christmas marked my first year with my baby boy. My first Christmas as a mama. A few Christmasses ago, it marked my Christmas as a believer. Make each Christmas a milestone - that symbolizes something truly remarkable for you.
Merry Christmas from my baby and I...

Merry Christmas Loreena! Your Christmas sounds like it was truly special one sharing your new baby to so many of your family from so far away!
Your point is a good one, it's one of "Mindfulness" of being throughly in the moment, to truly acknowledge another person. I read something earlier today that synchronizes wonderfully with your point, thank you for reaffirming that thinking!
