Carlsbad in San Diego California is rich in history. The first human inhabitants in Carlsbad were the Luiseño people. They were American Indians who are in the Shoshonean linguistic group. In 1842 Don Juan Maria Marron was granted most of the land that now comprises modern day Carlsbad. His ranch was called Rancho Agua Hedionda or "Stinking Water Ranch". John Frazier created fresh water well so that the new railroad would stop in the area for water in the 1880´s. Frasier dug another well that had mineral water in it which turned out to be very similar to the European health spa Karlsbad in Bohemia.

Today Carlsbad is a beautiful coastal community with many great neighborhoods. In 1997 Fortune Magazine rated Carlsbad in the top five of best places to retire in the United States. There are also three great resorts in Carlsbad, the La Costa Resort and Spa, the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort and the Carlsbad in Beach Resort.
