Girls Inc. of the Island City hosts a teen summit

Girls Inc. of the Island City is hosting a free Teen Summit for middle and high school girls to discuss "Healthy Teens Inside and Out" on Saturday, April 21 at the South Shore Center in Alameda.

The Girls Inc. program will feature  guest speakers, workshops on teen issues, lunch, prizes and more.

Alameda native and author Amy Ahlers will speak at the event.

According to Girls, Inc., “teens will participate in, interactive workshops on topics such as getting into college; body image and self-esteem; self-expression; healthy bodies and skin; everyday etiquette including online etiquette; interview skills; sexual health; Zumba and self-defense.”

Girls, Inc. will begin registration for the all-day event is at 9:30 a.m. and the program starts at 10 a.m.  It is open to all girls in middle and high school. You do not need to be a member of Girls Inc. to participate.

To register call Girls Inc. at 510-521-1743 Ext. 208.  South Shore Center is located on Otis Drive and Park Street.
