TODAY, I DELETED A POST FOR THE FIRST TIME....Full disclosure as to why:
I did it because it became an unimaginable monster. It became a monster because in the process of going back and forth with an individual, or rather 2 individuals, I could see the writing on the wall and the subject matter became something I never ever thought I would be tackling at this point in my career: the ethical treatment of the private information about a client or customer.
I deleted my post about the websites Zillow and Trulia's crazy pricing of properties here in my small Village of Southampton, New York.....something Zillow calls Zestimates and Trulia doesn't seem to have a name for.
It became a monster because I made the bad mistake of trusting an individual here on AR to give me the "scoop" on how these 2 firms come up with their pricing which in my point of view, are always way off the mark. Not only that but these two sites are dead wrong in every case and no one can tell me why they insist on pricing properties that they have never seen in areas they know nothing about. Zillow also insists on revealing properties as "Foreclosures" when they are not.
Leslie Ebersole urged me to take down the post and I appreciate her concern over the way the thread was unfolding...Passions were running wild and in that back and forth, I may have said things that were not beneficial to me or any of my supporters or clients/customers!
I must say, there is one individual who has been a follower of mine but is not supporter and she reared her ugly head at the end of the post, which is the main reason I deleted the post...She had divulged in her comment, my home address which she found on Zillow ---I have complained to ActiveRain about this person who used to be from the Long Island area...and a neighboring competitor. She moved but still remains here on AR, doing her best to make me wrong at every turn....she is scary too.
So, just now I went on a blogsite: Occupy Zillow? ...and I found this video, purely by accident:
This is something we, as real estate professionals all need to see! I wish I had known about this couragous act before I wrote my post--I would have handled my issues with the 2 sites very differently.
Please let me know what you think?...and thanks to all who participated in the back and forth on my last post---sorry I had to delete it but I did save a copy!
SORRY ABOUT THE HUGE WHITE SPACE---TRIED TO DELETE AND CAN'T.....
