FREE things to do in Door County. The Door County Visitor's Bureau has assembled a fantastic list of FREE things to do on the Door Peninsula, and our office has also brainstromed some of our favorite ideas, too.
Free Things To Do
Everybody loves the cost of free.
Below are some activities and ideas that don't cost a dime.
Door County Beaches and County Parks
Beaches and parks have always been a source of inexpensive fun. With 300 miles of shoreline, we've got quite the source. Stop at Anclam Park in Baileys Harbor on a windy day to watch the kite boarders or Ellison Bay Bluff Park to gaze at stunning views from the deck.
Must sees: ELLISON BAY BLUFF PARK OR WILLS PARK AND MARINA FOR A SUNSET
SAND BAY BEACH TO WATCH THE MOON RISE ON A CLEAR NIGHT
Geocaching
If you have a GPS, you have an adventurous game in hand. Many caches are hidden throughout Door County and contain interesting prizes. Go online, type in your location and the adventure begins.

Mountain Park - Washington Island
Climb the 184 steps to the top of the wooden Lookout Tower, and see Door County from above the treetops. If the climb doesn't take your breath away, the view will.
Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal and Coast Guard Station
Bring your camera. The lighthouse and breakwater pier are some of the most photographed subjects in the county. Viewing beautiful artwork doesn't have to cost a thing.
VISIT AN OPEN HOUSE
Yes, we're plugging real estate and Door County properties, but open houses can be a lot of fun and very educational. Ask our agents about current market conditions and start looking for your own Door County dream home. Look for "Model Open" or "Open House" signs at Yacht Harbor Shores, The Shoreline Condominiums, and The Orchards this season.
SUMMER CONCERTS IN THE PARK and DOOR COUNTY FESTIVALS
Wednesday MUSIC CONCERTS in Season at the Sister Bay Beach Bring a folding chair and prepare to enjoy an afternoon of music during the summer season. We also have GREAT local festivals nearly every weekend from May through October, and it costs nothing to stroll through our towns and villages and listen to live music, watch parades, attend bonfires, and watch fireworks.
