California Foreclosure stats

Usually holding first place is an honor... however being #1 in Foreclosures is not an honor that we here in Stockton, California are proud of.  Up until the mortgage meltdown, Stockton was hardly heard of.  Now I have people calling me from other states and they mention and remind me that Stockton is #1 in number of foreclosures over all other cities.

California total foreclosure filings hit 39,992 with the household per filing is 325.  California foreclosure filings have been at #1 for 10 straight months.  20% of the 201,950 foreclosure filings reported nationwide for the month of November 2007.  Nationwide household per filing is 617.

Foreclosure filings by state (highest first):  California, Florida, Ohio, Texas, Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, Colorado, New York for the month of November 2007.

Homes prices are affected by the foreclosure problems.  Home prices have not been this low since 1991. This problem is why there are so many short sale listings and requests for short sale approval and people losing their homes.

Brian, thank you for stopping by and as we know being in the high number with foreclosures is not a happy time.  I surely hope and I pray that 2008 will bring about a positive change for homeowners, borrowers and agents.

Happy New Year.

My goodness Rosemary!! 1 in 99 is really really bad. OK so I take back everything I have ever said about not helping people. Your area needs intervention. Now they need to figure out how to do it so it helps the largest amount of folks while still being fair.

Charles ~ You are right they are touch numbers and probably will get worst before better.  I am curious to see December numbers because holidays and mortgage payments and end of year sometimes clash!! This is one real reason why my heart goes out and I want to help people in trouble ~~ there is just so many of them that are!

I am still trying to help as best I can.  2008 need to bring us some relief.

Bryant ~ that is a great statement you made about taking back some of the comments on not helping!!!  We do need help and I welcome any suggestions that you can offer from an agent's standpoint.  And I hope the higher ups get on the stick (so to speak) and get the help that is really needed, not the lets help a handful and look good approach. 1 in 99 means that just in my community there are about 10 foreclosed homes and who knows how many are going to default this month.  We have about that 800- 900 homes in this area where I live ~~~ not counting the whole city.

Dan ~ Thank you, prayer changes things alot faster than our politicians!  I believe in prayer and I am constantly doing it, if more do it ~~ a change will come.  A good change.

"When you're down to nothing, God is up to Something!"

"When God close a door, he open a window" ~~ we just have to be open to seeing the window is open!

And a little on the light side:  "I know God promised he would not give me more than I can bare, I just wish he didn't trust me so much!" smile

My inspiration for the day!

In this case you are right but the bright side of the market is that prices will drop and homes will again be affordable to those with good credit and income

D'Adrea ~ I know what you mean and both these are areas we cover!  Maybe 2008 will bring about a change.

E Jeffrey ~ True that.  However, I feel for the number of people that will potentially lose their home.  So many families affected.  And I believe that prices will only stay low for a short period once we get the foreclosures under control.  People forget too quickly.
