Chocolate is not only made for kids. It is STRICTLY for adults also. Since I was a kid, I always love chocolates and not a day would pass by that I would not get a taste of my favorite chocolate bar! It has become my addiction and the blame could be thrown on the inventor of the chocolate, the manufacturer of my favorite bar, the person who introduced me to chocolate-eating, myself, or the chocolate itself.

Being a self-confessed chocolate addict, I strongly believe that I belong to the individuals in the US who consumes about 11.5 pounds of chocolate yearly. It is a craving that has become a global affair – thanks to the delicious lineup of various chocolates containing add-ons that cast spell and lure individuals to eat them. According to nutrition experts, a 100-gram chocolate contains between 510-520 calories. Conformed on these findings, it is the reason why many individuals eat chocolate whenever they feel they need extra energy. Chocolates are easily absorbed by the body and quickly turn them into energy. They are highly regarded as stimulants such that it is a common comfort food of those who are stressed from the daily load of their tasks.
Nonetheless, despite of the seemingly good points attributed to chocolates. There are some findings that may crook your belief on why chocolates are that addictive. There are studies showing that there are andanamidelike substances in chocolates that stimulate the brain to crave for more chocolate. These adanamidelike substances are said to work like the active components found in marijuana. Yet, there are no concrete evidences that chocolates are totally bad for the health.
Eating chocolates has really become my pleasure. Whenever I am working long hours even until the wee hours, I ensure that my fridge has adequate stocks of my favorite chocolate bar. Whenever I feel like hungry and eating rice or other foods would just consume too much time on preparation – I turn on to the power of the chocolate.
Not only do chocolates taste good, there are a string of health benefits that one could get by eating their favorite chocolates. They contain tryptophan – an amino acid that stimulates the serotonin of the brain. It helps in relieving depressive moods. They have flavonoids – to antioxidants that are good for the heart because they help in thinning the blood and lowering blood pressure to reduce risks of stroke. Chocolates improve memory because of epicathechins. These components are also known to delay the onset of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease as one grows old. According to certain studies, many people aged over 60 are still very retentive and have clear recollections of their past – majority of them love to eat chocolate.
Now, you see why I am that addicted to chocolate. It’s actually the health benefits I get. The benefits I get helps me keep going with my work!
