I Need Digital Assistance!!!

Christmas is over...gifts have been given...Santa has returned to the North Pole!

I'm not one to really crave presents, although I'm no different than most people...I like surprises and nice things! Especially when they come in the form of 'gifts'!

About the only thing I was looking to get this Christmas was a decent but inexpensive digital camera! Now, we already own a nice 'family' Panasonic Digital camera with a nice lens and many bells and whistles. I had in mind a camera to replace my current Kodak 2.2 MP with no zoom and hardly any bells and whistles...and comparitively large in size...the one I use at work...and by today's standards its definition leaves a lot to be desired...it's just not sharp enough in picture quality!

Yes, I thought maybe one of those lighter weight pocket sized 4x to 6x zoom cameras with image stabilization and proprietary rechargeable batteries ( I hate AA batteries in cameras, should I? ).

Anyhow I don't intend to spend more than $150.00...I know, I'm a cheapskate...but as a practical matter, I still want the most for my money...you know how human nature is!

I thought what better audience to ask than my friends on Active Rain...they always come through...Oh, and to make this real estate related so we don't lose any 'Google Juice', I'll be using this camera mostly for business purposes...blogging is business, isn't it???

Alright guys and gals, let's hear your recommendations!!! Only one per commenter, please!!!

I use a Sony Cybershot for most of my stuff. Small and effective. I bought is because it DOES NOT take proprietary batteries. I like the AA battery feature and have a set of 4 rechargeable ones. In a pinch if I am out doing REO photos I can stop in and get a pack of regular batteries if I find I have dead batteries.

But that is just my humble opinion.

Happy Selling

Brian,

I can be talked into AA battery cameras, but I hear many stories about how they don't take many pictures on a set or a recharge!!! Thanks for the recommendation,   Fran

Fran,  I recommend the Sony Cybershot 7.2MP. It has numerous features, wonderful image quality, is reasonable in price (you should be able to find one in your price range) and also takes great movies!

A friend of mine gave my son Rob one and he absolutely loves it. Now I need to upgrade my old Sony Cybershot also (it's 4 years old) and I'm going to stay with the Sony Cybershot line.

It takes rechargeable AA batteries....never use alkaline batteries in a camera though.

Tom: I'll keep you posted!!!

Jo: What if you get stuck like Brian said above...you can't use regular AA available anywhere???

Thanks,   Fran

Fran, I just bought (a couple months ago) an Olympus stylus 7.1 megapixel.  I got it for less than $150 on e-bay. It's pocket size and very light weight, it stays in my purse unless I'm using it or charging the battery.  I charge it about once a month or so.    It has 'image stabilization' (whatever that is!) and zooms and widens easily.  I really like it, fits my needs and wants perfectly!

You are right Fran, the camera's that use AA and AAA batteries don't take too many pictures before the batteries die. But, even you get a camera that doesn't use AA or AAA, I suggest you get a back up battery. It comes in real handy when your battery dies unexpectedly.

For those interested, I have settled on:

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ7K 7.2MP Digital Camera with 6x Image Stabilized Zoom (Black)

I hope I made a good decision! Thanks, everyone,   Fran
