Made In The USA???

Over the years I have collected cartoons that have appeared in our local News Paper the Middletown Press.  One of the ones that I have not only saved, but is hanging up on my bulletin board is the one above.

Without many words this cartoon speaks volumes of what is happening in our great country.  We have stopped being self sufficient, and now depend on other countries to provide the components that we need to produce the goods made in our factories.  It seems that everything from computers to cars maybe assembled here in the U.S., but it is foreign parts that are contained within them.

So the next time that you hear Made In The USA, take a closer look at what theMade In The USA was made with.

I am not sure anything is totally  "Made in America" any more.  I think the cartoon says it all!  I think Clark's shoes are entirely made in America... that's all that comes to mind.

Hi George, the cartoon does say it all.  One really has to look for the "Made in USA" label these days.

I used to laugh at this types of cartoons. It is not so funny anymore. I have bloggred about this topic many times. There is not enough commitment in this country to "Buy American". I check every label, whenever humanly possible, I will buy made in America.

Oh gosh, this is so funny and so sad that it is true.  You're right about always taking a closer look.

I bet it would be pretty hard to find something that doesn't have some part from a foreign country!

Don't worry!

If you need help with those foreign parts,

our Government is training a support staf.

Liberalism is a joke!

Foreign parts, foreign call centers, and the Secret Service goes to Colombia instead of Tonopha!

Is there no job our goverment finds suitable for Americans?

Will we finaly be equal when there are only two groups? Government workers and those on welfare.

It would be funny George if it wasn't so sad. What is funny is that you blogged on this. We just bought some garden accessories and a shed. It said r assembled in the USA, what exactly does that mean? The parts were from somewhere else?

You are so right on this, George. I actually always look for the Made in the USA label and will buy that item over a foreign made. However, 'made' means it was put together in this country. What is inside is a whole other story as the product is usually filled with foreign parts.
