Am I confused? Can you help me understand? Copyright 1999 MRIS, Copyright 2001 MRIS, Copyright 2003 MRIS

Copyright CopycatAccording to Mr. Webster copyright means: “the exclusive legal right to reproduce, publish, sell or distribute the matter and form of something (as a literary, musical, or artistic work)”

WHY are there so many real estate listings with photographs stamped Copyright 1999 MRIS, Copyright 2001 MRIS, Copyright 2003 MRIS and so on? Aren’t we, real estate agents, taking on the contractual obligation of  marketing the property for the best interest of the seller? Doesn't that include taking good, current photographs of the property being offered for sale? Rhetorical questions of course. Am I confused? Can you help me understand? Is there a legitimate reason for such a practice?

Mr. & Mrs. Seller, ask to see a copy of your listing. Look to see that the pictures are a good representation of your property. Digital photographs are easy to do. The pictures should not be fuzzy, tilted, too dark, too bright or cause you to lean your head completely to one side in order to see the picture.

The bottom line is bad/lack of pictures effects your bottom line.  It will take longer to sell your property & some people will mistakenly assume (never a good idea) that there is something wrong with the property based solely on bad/lack of photos.

Enough said. Thanks for reading my rant. Am I confused? Can you help me understand? Copyright 1999 MRIS, Copyright 2001 MRIS, Copyright 2003 MRIS

Wow, Diane.

Somebody at your MRIS needs to get their act together.   This makes a Listing look inaccurate or dated.

Diane, in fact if the listing is not sold for a long time, it's a good practice to change the pictures as per season ...to help it sell..and I thought that's our responsibility...

Fred ~ I agree. I'm curious what I will find if I show one of these gems.

Praful ~ That's another of my photo peeves. I agree & I believe it IS our responsibility.

1999 photos????  That is just downright ridiculous.  And lazy on the part of the agent.  If sellers don't get a copy of their listing from their agent, they need to check for themselves and see how their home is portrayed online.
