Lilacs at the Santa Barbara market

This morning at theSanta Barbara Farmers' Market, we had a new stand.  On it were the loveliest lilacs I had seen in a long time.  I had heard that botanists had developed a lilac that could grow in California and there it was in all its splendor.

When I lived in Minnesota with my parents, our home had lilac bushes lining the driveway and one side of the house.  The fragrance and the color always enchanted me.  I am so happy we can have them here.

Have a great weekend, Cheers, Ron & Alexandra

Lilacs are my most favorite flower.  They are hard to grow here as it gets so hot in the summer here in Temecula...but I have two bushes that are doing quite well as I planted them in the shade!

Just lovely. You and I could make a bouquet today. ;)

Did these gorgeous lilacs smell as beautiful as they look? Just wanted to pop by and wish you a very Happy Earth Day. :)

I love Lilacs but they don't grow here, Alexandra. We used to have lots of them in our backyard on Long Island and I miss them.

Jane,

Thanks for your comment, I am glad you are growing them.  I am going to have to find some to grow around here.  They smell so nice.

Debb,

Thank you, I noticed your lovely forget me-nots, and we definitely could have made a gorgeous bouquet.  Hope you enjoyed Earth Day celebrations, and have a great week ahead.

Toni,

I miss them too, and I am going to look for what type grows in California, maybe they will in Florida also.

Rebecca,

Thanks and we hope you had a great Sunday also.

Thanks everyone for your comments on our post, we appreciate them, and we wish you a great week ahead.  All the best,

Ron & Alexandra

Hi Ron and Alexandra, I really enjoy lilacs because the smell transports me to my childhood.  They are in bloom here as well.

All the best.
