I had one of those annoying "I can get you on the front of Google" calls last week.  The girl on the other end was telling how she could make my electrical contracting company a superstar through her cyber-magic.  If I would only sign up for $99 a month I would see my business double, triple or even quadruple in no time.

I said, "I'm already on the front page of Google."  She said, "No you're not.  I searched for you."  I asked how she searched and she told me.  So, I ran the search myself.  You've got to love a great smart-phone.  There I am, # 2 on the front page.

I tried it through another search phrase.  Bang, # 1 front page.  I tried numerous search phrases, and I showed up on the front page every time.  I used Fire-Fox so I'd make sure my relationship with Google wasn't skewing the search.  Still there.  I finally had to hang up on her because she wouldn't accept the obvious.  I really don't think anyone is really looking for one-eyed albino electricians in Winchester, VA, but you never know . . .

I tell you this to say, you can use the same cyber tools you learn on Active Rain for your real estate business or any other business, social club, church, school, hobby or any other group you're associated with.  The same tools you learn here will work there.  So, take your newly found talents and put them to work in other areas of life that you support or work with.  You'll be surprised at how well you do.

Mike, We've seen it work with enough of our blog topics.  Covering a Localism event has a high chance of landing page 1, and we don't even try to SEO optimize by any means.  And the linking to our blog has helped our main templated website better our results for some key terms too.

That's a great question, Doug.  All of my phones are on the DNC list, but it doesn't seem to stop anybody anymore.

Roger, I'll have to admit I was taken back when she blurted right out that she couldn't find me.  She would not accept that I could see the listing using her search parameters.  Crazy stuff.  Have a great week.
