6 Comments on Wasps, Bees, Hornets and Other Stinging Pests. They will get in!
Looks like a great list of pest invitations to me, Tom.
Be careful who you invite Toni, some can be real party-poopers!
Thanks for the comment.
Tom, they certainly do get in, we had a massive wasp nest in our main floor joists, against the outer wall, we found it the year we renovated the basement! Luckily it was winter and we had already sprayed that nest in the fall but it was still scary getting it out... as you can see it is almost the width of the span between joists. Pretty huge!
Tom: We get this out here in Temecula....last year there was a swarm of bees that traveled every three or four days from tree to tree!
Now I'm not an expert Peg but I remember this nest pattern. I saw a massive nest that filled the entire back side of a tub/shower. They had gotten in a small hole in the siding.
The odor was horrible, that's why the search began. The exterminator referred to them as "meat bees". You may have experienced them while camping, they literally eat meat. the nest that we had on the job smelled like rotted meat.
It was not fun, but the nest was beautiful in design.
We have a large swarm of honey bees swarm into a tree in our backyard last week. They have returned every year for the last three years Jane.
