                                         Design To Market Kitchen
A prospective client called Design To Market in crisis mode...they were about to lose the home of their dreams if they could not sell their current home.  They were desperate for help creating the right look for the kitchen in their otherwise updated and well maintained home.  The asking price was modest but expectations were high in this up and coming neighborhood.  80's dusty blue, damaged vinyl and a dated border were not enticing to the prospective buyer.  The needed offer was not materializing.  The challenge...
TO CREATE A NEW KITCHEN FOR UNDER $2,000!
This kitchen as shown above in the early stages of our work needed a new floor, replacement of panelling below the chair rail, a current color scheme, new lighting, and updated window treatments.

This after photo was taken at completion of the project.  The house sold within 5 weeks of the kitchen redo and the owners are happily living in their new home.  The key to success:  Cost effective materials, a reliable and competitively priced contractor, and a home stager with a pulse on the look that sells homes in your area.

Jo, What an improvement in the coloring! The kitchen went from hodge podge to clean and welcoming. Thanks for sharing

Wonderful transformation!  I love the pop of red you brought in with the window treatment.  It isn't a big change, but it really brought in some color and style in the kitchen.  Great work and congrats on the sale!

Awesome Jo!  Its amazing what a coat of paint, a new floor, and a good cleaning will do, to even a dated kitchen.  I love kitchen transformations that are done on a dime.  There's no law that says anyone has to spend big bucks to get a big bang, is there?

Amazing transformation Jo. It is amazing how much you got done for so little money. It was worth twice the price, especially since you got the home sold so quickly. Great job!

I have to give a lot of the credit to Target with their attractive and inexpensive window treatments.  The color scheme was easy to pull together with the use of the colors in the valance.

What an improvment! But I knew you could do it even before I saw the after!!! Isn't it wonderful what a paint job and some new peel and stick tile can do for a room? Thanks for sharing.

Kathy,

Thanks for the feedback.  I have to admit though that we do not in general recommend peel and stick.  This is actually the stock roll vinyl from Home Depot.  We have found that if you have a good installer the material cost is very manageable and the end result is much better.

Thanks Kathy.  We have found that green is a great color because so many people like it and it goes well with most furnishings.

I like words you chose: "a home stager with a pulse on the look that sells homes in your area" so key to know what sells and what doesn't in your area!

The successful sale proves how important that is!

Congrats Jo-Nice work!  That shade of green looks lovely and oh so much better than the 'before' photo!  Regards-Kathleen G

I agree and if you are to come across this type of situation again, consider the new EuroStone Tiles (peel and stick) for flooring. Lowe's and Home Depot carry it and it is stunning. It looks like ceramic and even has grout lines. The cost is reasonable as well.

I am normally not a fan of peell and stick because we have found that Lowes and home Depot carry nice roll options.  However, we were recently in a 20 year old condo with a small laundry room that has 70's looking vinyl.  I thought of Phyllis's comment (Above) and realized the EuroStone tile may be just the solution for this room.  It would be tough to install vinyl given that the home's mechanics are also in this room.  Phyllis, thanks for the idea!
