LOL, Kristin, that little finch looks like he is ready to take on all comers! Whodathunk birds had expressions like that? I wonder if he could hold off the jays that seem to take over our feeders?
Hi Karen,
I don't know but he is a big guy. We get a variety of sizes but this one hangs out in the tree a lot and he is definitely bigger than most so I suspect he is more aggressive too. I get blue birds and robins but never blue jays. I wish I did but I have heard they try to run the rest of the birds off.
Have a great week.
Thanks for sharing your photograph. You might need to purchase another feeder!
I get that way with food sometimes tooo... LOL great picture, thanks for sharing, have a great day.
Hi Roy,
I have 3 and have been thinking about buying a hummingbird feeder. My husband is convinced we have a gopher problem due to the bird feeders. I may add another big one as the larger birds like the long ones since they do not tilt when they land due to the added weight.
Great picture, Kristin. Birds are so terretorial, aren't they. And so funny when you can catch them on camera.
Hi Diane,
How funny you are! I guess we can all get grumpy when we have been deprived and then sit down for a nice meal. I just loved the look on his face...back off now!
Thanks for stopping.
Kristin, Reminds me of "King of the Mountain" growing up. Just try to knock me off!
Hi Toni,
This guy is really big and I think he intimidates the other birds and his scowl is enough to keep others away. Funny how I have gotten to know the politics in my backyard!
Hi Paula,
Yes that is a good analogy of the situation. I stayed outside about 30 minutes and he was still there when I left.
Kristin,
He was very hungry and did not want any competition. He is such a beautiful birdie.
Hi Patty,
I love the orange-red color on the male finches. Some of them are darker than others and this guy is really orange and big. They take pretty pictures too.
Loved the FB picture of the baby and Roo.
Kristin what a great capture that was!! Love that expression!
Hi Debra,
Thanks so much for stopping by to comment. And.....thanks so much for the honor of being featured in your group "Active Rain Animal Photography".
I did just love the expression on this finch's face.
Thanks for the purty birdie pic and it sure looks ready to do battle while guarding the larder. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sue,
Thanks so much for stopping by to comment. The backyard birds are so sweet and chirp so nicely but obviously there is some bickering among themselves.
