I went to a gathering last night and the person running it asked us all to spend a few moments thinking about the great things that we had accomplished and those things that we were grateful for in the last year. It was a great experience for me because I often spend time in the present or the future, but, unless I'm trying to defuse an old button or rewrite some old story that doesn't serve me, I don't often look at the past. Which means that I don't often remember to give myself credit for what I've accomplished.
To make the exercise even more pointed, we were asked to find a partner and take 5 minutes each to talk about those things we had accomplished and what we were grateful for. So we had to come up with something and it had to be positive. It was amazing to me. I had plenty to say. In fact, I realized that I have accomplished more this year, both personally and professionally than I have in several years in the past. It was a good year overall. And, go figure, I also realized, that I'm actually pretty damn happy. Who knew?
So here's your thought for the day. What have you accomplished in the last year? What and who are you grateful for? What worked out really well for you?
Then - celebrate your successes! Tell me about them here - I'd love to be your cheerleader and celebrate with you.
