Meyer's House and Garden in Alameda


Things to do in Alameda:  The Meyer’s House and Gardens will be open for touring on Saturday, April 28 from 1 to 4 pm at 2021 Alameda Avenue.  Admission is $5 per person.
The family home of renowned county architect Henry H. Meyers and his family who lived there for almost 100 years. The beautiful grounds are part of three City lots that make up the estate.Docent tours are offered.  Building interiors and exhibits furnished and maintained by volunteer staff under direction of George Gunn, Curator of Alameda Museum.”  



 

rhythmix cultural works logoThings to do in Alameda:  The Make do! show will end on May 4.  Don't miss the recycle and Up-cycle art and fashion show at Rhythmix Cultural Works.  The show runs through May 4.  Upcycle Clothes and artists from Redux have teamed up to create a show that will inspire the “Make Do” in all of us!”  recycling, repurposing and reusing things and who hesitate to throw anything away.  Sounds like me.


Things to do in Alameda:  Got Meds?  Need to dispose of them.  You can turn in your expired, unused and unwanted drugs free on Saturday, April 28 at the City Hall parking lot on Oak Street from 10:00 am. to 2:00 pm.  



Things to do in Alameda:  The Alameda’s Farmer’s Market is open to the public every Saturday and Tuesday morning from 9am to 1pm, rain or shine.  It is best to arrive early to find the best choice of delectable fruits and vegetables.  There are activities for kids and grownups alike.  The market is at Webster Street and Haight Avenue

USS Hornet docked at AlamedaThe USS HORNET will be honoring Jimmy Doolittle on the anniversary of the infamous Doolittle Raid on Japan on Saturday, May 5

The Alameda Recreation and Parks Alameda Walks program begins 2012 walks by taking a “Historic Preservation Walk” starting on May 5 at 9:00 am at Franklin Park entrance.  The walks are easy, entertaining and fun and last about an hour.  Exersize and learn something about your city.  What could be better?

Don’t forget to the PSBA Spring Festival .  Traditionally held the weekend of Mother’s Day, the festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday May 12 and 13th.  Lots of activities, vendors, music and games for the kids.

Alameda Meals on Wheels 16th Annual Community Faire & Wine TastingFundraiser on Sunday, July 15from 1 to 5 pm at Rock Wall Wine Company at 2301 Monarch Street at Alameda Point.
