Don’t get baited into a lawsuit

Recently I've come across a post to another forum that was asking about another agent, but not to post to the board, but to call. This seemed a little strange to me and I wanted to find out more so I sat back and watched.

I finally called with the famous *67 and wanted to find out more without giving my name. I also wanted to advise this person that they are asking to be sued by posting about this person. The person didn't want to talk to me unless I was willing to share who I was, even though they asked for the help.

After watching the forum, even the owner of the forum determined that it seems this person was fishing for slanderous comments and was wanting to sue who ever was willing to call and talk bad about this agent. The reason I was calling is to find out more about the situation, because I have a house in contract with this agent and from the post to the forum, they were trying to do fraudulent deals right before closing.

So, be careful when you are talking about others and if someone asks you for an opinion on someone be careful what you say, they maybe fishing for a lawsuit as it seems this person was. The post has since been removed and the persons screen name deleted, but hopefully nobody was entrapped by this person, but I'm afraid from the last few posts before it was taking down, they were already talking lawsuit with the people who called and bad mouthed this agent.

So watch what you say and I'm glad I decided to block my call and protect my identity prior to my call, so this person couldn't put words in my mouth that I wasn't about to say. I was actually calling them to tell them, they better watch what they post or they could be sued for slander. Turns out they were baiting others in to saying slanderous things and looking to sue others.

Like they say... The keyboard (PEN) is mightier than the sword. Always think twice and post second.

Todd,

It's never a good idea to talk about people...even those I consider scum bags and crooks and cock roaches...I condemn heartily what they do and what they stand for, but refrain from talking about them!!! Thanks,   Fran

Todd folks just never cease to amaze me! I guess that's one of the reason I enjoy being a hermit. While I don't dislike peole I truly prefer not to have to deal with them unless it's business.

Wow!  It takes all kinds, doesn't it?  I didn't even know about the *67, so I learned something new too!

Todd - I had a fired agent call me and try to get me to say something about an office manager we had when we worked together. I did leave that particular brokerage mainly because of the manager (nuts and paranoid), but I never saw her do anything illegal and he was trying to bait me into saying something.

He had me on speaker phone the whole time and probably recording my answers. Don't care..I didn't say anything for him to use. Just because you don't care for someone and their work methods doesn't mean they've done anything illegal. Some people just take the cake.

It is very unfortunate that there are people out there like that, the worse thing is some, like this one, are licensed agents.

Thanks for the post

Todd- I am a firm believer of what goes around comes around.....so if a  licensed agent does this to his peers, what do you think the clients will do to him/her........or vice versa.......always a good idea to check yourself......keep those attitudes out of the work place.

Todd, you have to be really careful.  Even on Active Rain, when I do a rant about a transaction, the people involved (if they ever did see it) might recognize themselves, but nobody else would.

And as a wise old manager used to tell us, anyone with the ten dollar filing fee can sue you.
