ORANGE (Tangerine Tango) is back! 313 Grand Street Alameda CA

What’s old is new again. Those of us who survived the 70s will remember the bright orange phones. Thankfully, there were no orange kitchen appliances then. But who’s to know what they’ll do now that “Tangerine Tango” a fancy choice of words that simply mean “orange” has been selected at the Color of the Year 2012. See Realtor Magazine article on “Cutting Edge Color”.

Bright and Cheerful

I must admit that a spot of bright color --- orange -- will perk up a room.

For feng shui followers, they need to know that “orange is the color of fertility. It carries some qualities of red, so may be used for decorating a bedroom or Feng Shui area of marriage and relationships.” See Decorating Home with Orange.

Staging a home

Somehow, I couldn’t bring myself to decorate a bedroom with orange accessories. So, thinking of the old adage that “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”, it seems that the kitchen and the dining room may be the best places to start.  313 Grand Street Alameda CA

My client has limited resources, so I brought in a few of my things just to give my newest listing a little “life”.

Here are areas where there are touches of orange. May this bright color stimulate offers soon!

Every few years, orange makes a comeback and I like it very much. Just a touch, nothing drastic brings fantastic color to an otherwise drab room or outfit.

Pacita-just like heel heights, or clothing styles, "orange" aka tangerine tango is not for everyone, but soft corals, clays, bricks feel just as fresh and updated, but with more universal appeal. Good call!!

Jill --- I like bright colors, too....but when decorating a home, I prefer them to be used as accents. Too much color can overwhelm (me, anyway)

Marie -- yes, softer, earthier variations of orange may be more palatable to a lot of people. Unless they're the real orange fruit in which case, the brighter, the better :)

Tangerine Tango...that's a great name for orange. I think as an accent it works. I like the bowl of tangerines in the kitchen picture. It does brighten up this neutral colored kitchen.

Perhaps Avacado appliances and iron stair railings will come back.  As for me I am waiting for the wood paneling revival!  :)

Debbie -- the oranges in the picture are mandarin oranges I picked from my own backyard. The little tiny plant was so top heavy with oranges that we had to prop it up

Gene -- harvest gold, avocado and chocolate were the popular colors then.  I'm sticking with white. People have forgetten that chrome plating similar to stainless steel appliances were popular too, in the 50's and 60's. As for wood paneling -- i tell my clients that if they don't want to rip them off, they can always just paint them so that walls have some kind of "texture".

Pacita ~ orange is a great accent color for staging a property for another reason -- it photographs beautifully, just as red does.  I often use those two colors to add energy to an otherwise "boring or lifeless" home and it works!!

Wendy -- I do like it as accent color. But done in moderation. I remember taking a look at the listing where the seller used peach everywhere. It was sickening.

Maureen -- I agree. Red and orage definitely stand out and breathe lilfe into a boring room.
