Last week, I was out showing houses and came across this unusual tree in the back yard of one of the homes we visited.  The big tree looked a bit forelorn.  While spring is well under way, its branches had no leaves at all.  Then in the crease of the trunk, there was a little dogwood peeping out.  What will Mother Nature think of next?

It's a pretty picture but I'm not sure what makes it weird. Is it because a weed is growing out from it? We always see that here.

Jill, it's actually a second tree that sprouted up - a dogwood, I think, in the trunk of an apparently dead tree.  And in full bloom.

Hi Patricia, Mother Nature does things like this to keep us interested and alert to the beauty around us.

Hi Pat,

Good that you clrified, I was thinking.... Oh but Pat this is just one tree with 2 big branches.  With the little Dogwood though that would make two trees.  Verrryyy clever!
