American Chestnut Tree Planting

Location: Tremont. 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Schuylkill Headwaters Association (http://schuylkillheadwaters.org) is hosting a volunteer ARRI (Appalachian Regional Reforestation Initiative) tree planting at the Michael Coal site off of Route 209 in Tremont, PA. Our goal is to plant hardwood trees on reclaimed coal mined lands to help establish forest habitat through natural succession. We will be planting about 600 American Chestnut seeds on one acre of land. We will start at 9 a.m., and lunch will be provided. If you are interested in volunteering or for more information, please contact Cataia Ives at 570-622-3742 x119 or cives@schuylkillheadwaters.org.
