With all the negative and depressing coverage of the housing market it defiantely has to be hindering the minds of possible buyers. This article "hopefully" helps buyers at least in my area Austin calm down and understand that there are brighter days ahead and to not get so panicked over all the negative national news. In my novice opionion I feel that the market is prime for first time home buyers who have been renting. My reasoning behind this is with decent credit scores, good financing, and accurate housing prices (CMA) they can take advantage of this cycle. Agree Or Disagree? Phoenix is taking a beating for the easy money market we had 3 years ago. We are now clearing out investory and dealing with people who got in over their heads. I need to go to Austin.
Did you notice with the exception of 2 all cities that were listed are under 500,000 residence ... additionally, not one of the cities listed experienced the huge run-up in real estate prices as seen in Phoenix, Las Vegas or San Diego etc.
Scott: It's a very interesting list... thank you! Although, some of those places in the top 10 for best don't seem like exciting places to live! Then again... maybe now is a good time to buy that retirement property in Montana! ;)
I am in good old Massachusetts and we have taken a beating but homes are selling just for less. It is not the booming market of 2004. Utah is certainly doing well. Ashville is drawing lots of people. Our luxury market is stronger.
