doorPlease welcome a new member to Active Rain, Liz Householder. Liz is from SE Connecticut, her website says.

"Living and selling homes in Southeastern Connecticut makes for an interesting business!  While my office is near the shore, in East Lyme, CT, I actually do quite a lot of business in surrounding towns like Waterford, Montville, and Salem, to name a few.  I specialize in single-family homes and condominiums in New London County, and especially concentrate on country properties."

Householder what a great name for a real estate agent! I have known Liz for a couple of years on e-PROTalk and RealTalk but I never knew Liz was a red head. Or maybe I had visited Liz's website and knew she was one of us (red headed REALTORS®... no Active Rain Group yet... who wants to start it?) ....and forgot.  I pictured Liz as a blonde.   I love seeing  pictures of people on Active Rain.

Liz you are going to love seeing all of the Real Talk / ePROTalk people who are here and connecting with them. In some ways it is like being home because there are some familiar faces.

I spent so much time studying Lenn's websites when she'd write about SEO  I felt like I knew Lenn.  I knew what Lenn looked like but many of the rest of those RT people were a mystery to me.   I had gone to visit Maureen Francis website and her blog but I barely knew her when I invited her to Active Rain. You will see a lot of Maureen, Liz like it or not... Maureen Francis is very involved on Active Rain. (Thanks for all you do MF.)  Jim Lee is on ActiveRain being, Jim Lee! Good info on NAR, national trends, JIMs, bisalesuality.  Bonnie Erickson is here holding her own in the Minnesota battle (there are points on Active Rain... play the game or ignore the points and have fun on Active Rain.)

The RealTalk Freds are here.  Fred Salzer and Fred Pickard.  They are both relatively new to Active Rain but I saw Fred Salzer on Michael Trust's blog yesterday.

Do you know Don Fabrizio-Garcia from RT Liz? Don was usually pretty quiet but shared some great stuff on RealTalk. Don's been a member for awhile but he's just recently gone wild on Active Rain blogging... about green benches mostly.  Don is relatively newly licenced in your state, he had sold in California before moving back east.

I have a little photo album here of RT / e-PROTalk members on my profile.  Lots of them have joined but some are not active, hopefully in 2007 more will start to participate on Active Rain. My Fairy Blogmother Frances Flynn Thorsen stopped by to plug RT Blogs yesterday but did not sign in to Active Rain...  Sally Hardman blogged here recently about her glorious area in Georgia. Laurie Furem blogged on Active Rain in December... I do still read RT sometimes and I saw Laurire was having surgery.  Anyone hear how she is? Judith blogged about Denver recently. Speaking of Denver, did you know Kristal Kraft on RT?  She was exiting RT as I entered but I recognized her here..kinda...  I pictured her different....and don't believe Kristal if she tells your Active Rain points can be used on shoes.... your hopes will be dashed...

Do you remember Ann Cummings from RT / e-PROTalk? Ann is involved in an online  book study of Richard Nacht and Paul Chaney's book, Realty Blogging. Great info in their blog entries.  Have you read the book Liz?  Liz and I "talked" about Richard's company, Blogging Systems their blogs via email the other day. I told her Barry Hurd, Chris Bubny, Paul and Richard of Blogging Systems are all members. Barry is the most involved Active Rainer from their organization.  Barry's blog is a great place to start to learn about blogging and writing IMHO. "Barry Hurd is the Director of Business Development for Blogging Systems."

There is an Active Rain newbie group.  You may want to check in there, for "Active Rain how to's."  Karen Hurst, Blanca (not going to try to do her last name, sorry Blanca) and other Rainers have put a lot of time into helping orient people to Active Rain.   I think reading some of that will help you with the how to get around Active Rain.

Liz's Coldwell Banker website

Liz's Active Rain profile (it's here twice to be sure... once above...) when I invited newbie Mike Bosela recently (Mike  did ePRO but did not like RT?... I know Mike from BlogTalk rather than RT / ePROTalk) and wrote a Welcome post for him, I missed putting in Mike's profile and Leanne caught me.. Leanne Paynter is another I don't think I knew from RT or ePROTalk but I met Leanne in BlogTalk. Leanne's Active Rain blog often has great info ...how to's, so it's a good read,  Liz.

Anyone want to help me welcome Liz? Old friends? New friends? My apologies if I did not share a link to your profile, or mention you.. if you are someone from Liz's past she can click on your comment and read your profile and reconnect with YOU!

Liz,  did you know that Carnac is hanging out in Connecticut now? Anyone have that photo of Carnac?

Welcome, Liz, to Active Rain!  Haven't seen you on RT for a while.  I was wondering what happened to you.

I heard from Laurie Furem the other day - she's home and recovering and didn't lose her smart wit in the surgery.

Hey you are quick.  Thanks for the update on Laurie.

Welcome Liz.

That has to be the most extensive welcome letter I have seen. I hope you will feel at home here!

Liz, welcome to Active Rain.

I am indeed recovering from my back surgery and apparently already overdoing it! lol  Thanks for the compliment Don :>

I hope to be blogging again very soon,

 Hugs,

Laurie

MF: Did you know you get a message "You exceeded the maximum number of emails an hour for IP address 75.60.196.48. We only allow 10 per hour" if you send out too many emails? Good feature keeps spamming down.  I was of course following directions in one of your posts about letting people know you are talking about them.

Yes it is elaborate more than I did for my earliest invitees.  Mea culpa.  I certainly have not had the time sometimes to do it.... I never thought of it until Elaine invited Karen (who I invited... but they are friends.) I would email you privately the science behind it but I am cut off from Active Rain email... hey I could go to my email?  Nah...

That settles it... I am changing my name to Craig Homestager.

WELCOME LIZ... obviously being a lowly home stager Maureen didn't think I was worth mentioning I think I am gonna go off and cry now! :)

Welcome to AR Liz, you have an awesome name, but you knew that!

Craig you are so funny you should be on the stage...it leaves in one hour.

Craig Homestager: It's "All in a name" I think you will get excellent SEO that way. Do it.  Craig I alluded to you and your talents at the end.... please, please can we see the photo of Carnac? in the comments.  Are Linda and Liz in the same market? CT is so darn tiny you'd think they'd all be tripping over one another showing off my geography stupidity here.

KK: I laughed.

Actually Craig I think of you as Craig Homestager.

Welcome Liz and here is a link to Biancas Welcome Post.  "Play the game or ignore the points" as Maureen says, it's your choice.Either way, Active Rain can be fun!

KK: I laughed (OUT LOUD) too!

Hmmm maybe I should be "Shecky Stager".

Hey Maureen,

GREAT welcoming post. Thank you for writing such a great welcoming post, and including our links in it and a bit about each of us. I can't imagine someone wouldn't feel welcome. :-) Welcome, Liz.

Welcome Liz, we look forward to hearing more from, and about, you!

On your birthday maybe we'll all change our last names to Householder.  On Rich Jacobson's bd we all changed our pics to his....

Maureen - what a REALLY nice Welcome Post for Liz!  Everyone should be so fortunate to be welcomed in this fashion!

Welcome LIZ!!  I recognize your name from RT, however I've been a little low-key there the last year or so.  Once in awhile someone will write something that brings me out to respond, but lately I just lurk, unless otherwise provoked!  ;-)               I get a kick out of watching others involved in flying fireworks!

Enjoy Active Rain - there's a great group of folks here!

WELCOME!!

Welcome Liz.

There is a "Householder Road" in Lovettsville.  Equity homes has a development of luxury homes there.  What a fabulous name.  It speaks "welcome".

Maureen:  I suspect that a lot of RT folks are awaiting the new platform announced by IC for RT.  I got a glimpse of it from a e-PROTalker who sent me a screen shot.  Very pretty.  Once that is live, folks will then be able to choose or do both.

I spend a lot of time on Active Rain because (1) I love it and (2) it is so comprehensive and (3), it drives traffic to my web sites.  What more could a body ask?

Lenn

01/05/2007 09:36 AM by Lenn Harley Homefinders.com MD & VA Real Estate

Lenn: Won't the new RT do that too Lenn?  Drive traffic?  I don't post on RT anymore but I still read it sometimes.

Ann: Thanks for the comment.  I will hopefully be able to keep welcoming people and maybe recycle parts of this post if they are RTers.

Chris:  Now there's an idea.  When is Craig's birthday?  Are we all going to wear red noses?  Change our names?  Gotta be something big for Craig...

Michael: Thanks I stopped by your blog yesterday but was tongue tied.  I will email you "offllist" oh... that is RT talk.

Karen: You Newbie group members do so much.  Good work.

01/05/2007 09:50 AM by Maureen McCabe - Central Ohio real estate (Real Living HER)

Hey, Liz, another RTer to get to know even better.  Let's see we don't have the cycles as much here as on RT nor have I caught any agency wars.  But like RT, there is sooooo much info to be gleaned, you are bound to be well fed with blogfood!  We look forward to your first posts!  I do, as we have talked before, envy a name like that.  It makes me think of the Boston agent who legally changed her last name to REALTOR so she could use it in her marketing.  You've got the same kind of edge!

01/05/2007 09:51 AM by Bonnie Erickson (The Realty Matrix)

Thanks, Maureen. Can't wait to see your email.

01/05/2007 11:47 AM by Maureen McCabe - Central Ohio real estate (Real Living HER)

Thanks for all the great comments, and especially to Maureen for the incredible welcome message.  Now I'm feeling small and humbled. . how am I ever going to come up with witty, intelligent, cool things to say with all of you here???  Yikes. . .

I've been away from RT for about a year, reading once in a while, but not posting.  Of course I remember everybody, glad my name stayed in your heads, too!  You'd think having a name like mine would be so easy, right?  Think again - many people who hear my name think it can't possibly be that easy, so they turn it into something like "Haushuler" - or they think I'm kidding.  When I first got engaged, a friend laughed and said "It sounds like Mrs. Occupant!"

Naming the blog is another whole subject, also turning out to be a lot harder than I thought it would be.  I'm looking forward to looking around Active Rain a lot more, learning as much as I can, and reading a lot, too.  Thanks again, Maureen, for the great post.

01/05/2007 12:21 PM by Liz Householder

Liz - This is easy:  Householder Hints.  Though I think you're smart enough to come up with something better.

01/05/2007 01:16 PM by Don Fabrizio-Garcia - Connecticut Real Estate & Appraisals (Keller Williams CT Realty)

Don: I think that's wonderful! but then again I have named four blogs Columbus Best Blog....what do I know...about names.

Liz: You weren't signed in when you commented so you don't get 25 points for it... which doesn't  matter if you are not into points, but it is a good idea to sign in because then you can read the Members Only Posts.  If you want help on how to sign in and edit your post let me know... we will probably end up out of order but you'll get points.

You are welcome.  Enjoy Active Rain and learn all about blogging and see how you and your friends like it.

Welcome Liz! See we are all comedians, that hopefully appeals to you LOL  CT, that means you will need to meet Linda Davis from CT, or maybe you already know her I think she is/was on RT as well.

Shecky! I vote for Shecky!

Love "Householder Hints"!!

Don - by the way, I thought your "Cummings and Goings" suggestion for me was cute.  I had a friend email me and tell me she thought I should use that as my blog name.  You are clever!!!

Welcome again Liz!  Don't worry about being clever and cute......that will come without you even trying!

Ann

01/05/2007 06:21 PM by Portsmouth NH Homes Condos - Ann Cummings New Hampshire REALTORĀ® (RE/MAX Coast to Coast - Portsmouth New Hampshire)

Don, "Householder Hints" is a great name.  At the moment, my blog plan is actually a team effort.  I'm going in with two other agents, one mortgage broker, and an attorney, and we're planning to have a group blog set up, so coming up with something that works for all of us is the challenge.

And yes, Carole, I do indeed know Linda Davis - the "great" Linda Davis, in fact, is based only a couple of towns east of me, and I've shown her houses, she or someone from her team has shown mine.  She's amazing and everywhere, and no one in New London County doesn't know her!

But, Maureen, we don't actually trip over each other in CT.  In fact, did you guys know (or care?lol) that CT up to now has had 4 (?) different regional MLS sites?  As of the end of January, we're finally going to one MLS for the state (except some towns in Fairfield County, I think).  What a relief to all be on the same page, literally.  See?  we're not so small after all!

01/05/2007 06:31 PM by Liz Householder - TheSalemBlog (Prudential Connecticut Realty)

Ann - "Cummings & Goings" just came to my head.  I do like it, if I may say so myself. Of course, it's always easier to be creative for someone else.

Liz - Are you in Lyme, CT?  For some reason I thought you were, but your profile says Niantic, CT.  Hmmm..."Niantic Antics"?  I'm trying to think of something that rhymes with "Disease" - but has a better connotation! - to use with Lyme.  Or, how about "Dear Tics"?  Nah.  I'm failing here.  But maybe this will help you to come up with something.

01/05/2007 06:51 PM by Don Fabrizio-Garcia - Connecticut Real Estate & Appraisals (Keller Williams CT Realty)

Don, you are awesome at this names thing.  Cummings and Goings is fabulous, wish it would work for me!  Niantic Antics is great, too - an FYI, Niantic is part of East Lyme, which is next to Lyme and Old Lyme.  My part of our blog will cover Salem, another part will cover New London, and a third part will cover East Lyme.  And we'll all cover real estate in general.

What rhymes with Salem?   hmm. . .(and we're not on the water here, so "Sailin' in Salem" won't work).  It's tough, I tell ya!

01/05/2007 07:11 PM by Liz Householder - TheSalemBlog (Prudential Connecticut Realty)

Well I always enjoy having a new victim.... er, I mean member of the community. ;)

Its nice to see individuals from other communities come over to AR, and to see how the social network has evolved through everyone's personal networks.

Maureen, it's ok that you forgot me...e-pro but more a lurker there than a contributor. It is fun to finally get to know people more on AR than we have on the other platforms.

Gena: I  could never forget you...  did you know Liz?  I remember Liz more from RT than from ePROTalk and I was trrying to sort out who I knew from where...

Thanks everyone for welcoming Liz and friends.  I think she is bringing those who she will be blogging with.

I think we all need to hire Don Fabrizio for names. Nice Welcome blog Maureen.

Don F-G is great for blog names.

Thanks Karen I hope Liz feels at home... unless of course she did not like RT / ePT...  Then what have I done?!? These are the nice RTers / ePTers though...

I know this is an older post, but I just stumbled across it again and thought of you.  Haven't heard from you on RT lately; everything OK?  Loved this blog with everyone's name mentioned; good idea!

Me?   I have not been on RT since this time last year when I found AR. "everything OK?"  Everything is wonderful I just got into blogging, no time for RT.
