NE Patriots helmet

The Patriots are one game away from "PERFECTION".  If they win tomorrow night they will  Giants helmetbecome the first team in NFL history to reach the pinnacle of 16 wins and 0 defeats in the regular season. (thanks Nate)

This game has brought a lot of discussion as to whether or not the New York Giants will or should rest their players for the playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I think the Giants will play their hardest and their starters for at least the first half. If the Pats open the game up early and take a big lead look for the Giants and the Pats to rest their starters in the second half.

The Patriots are destined to break a few NFL records and I feel they will break the following records tomorrow night.

  • Most points by a team in a regular season 556 (held by the 1998 Vikings Randy Moss was on that team: They need a TD to break it.
  • Most Touchdown passes by a quarterback 49 (held by Peyton Manning) Tom Brady has 48 and will break this no problem.
  • Most Touchdown receptions 22 (held by Jerry Rice) the amazing thing about this stat is that Jerry Rice did this in the strike shortened 1987 season in 12 games. Randy Moss has 21 and Brady will get this stat out of the way early on.

The Patriots last week broke the record for most touchdowns in a season ironically against the team that held the record, the Miami Dolphins who had 70 and now the Pats have 71.

If you are a Pats fan don't take this game lightly as the Giants are a good team and have a couple of great defensive ends in Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora who collectively have 22 sacks between them. The Pats know how to prepare as they have defeated all the rest of the teams in this division.

Look for the Pats to open the game up early in the air as Brady will march down the field and score the first touchdown with a pass to Randy Moss. The Pats will need to stop the Giants running attack but the Pats defense against the run ranks 10th in the league and the Giants are ranked 4th in rushing on offense.

The Pats rank 4th in total defense and the Giants 6th.

This won't be that easy but it will depend on what happens early on. The Pats will go for the records and will go undefeated and the Giants will not be able to stop them.

New England Patriots  34

New York Giants        17

Weather forecast is dry and 44 degrees at game time and breezy and 37 by the end of the game.

GO PATS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So we guess you want the Pats to win? We're Manning fans, my dad knows their dad, but we can still be happy for you if they prevail. They should. It would just be so much easier if bill had any personality.

best holiday wishes

Hi Gary and Rich, I love the Pats and I do enjoy watching Peyton play. He is a Hall of Fame Player and I do fear him when we play Indy. I am sure we will see Indy in Foxborough in a few weeks. Do you have his autograph?

Monika, Bill is all business and lately he has been showing a few smiles and relaxing a bit. He is a genious.

Jabin, som eof the media still brings up Spygate but all in all this team is focused on one thing and one thing only. The big prize the Super Bowl.

Jay - the Pats are not the first to go 16-0.  The '72 Dolphins went 17-0 to win the Superbowl.  The Pats will, after Saturday's game, be the first taem to go 16-0 durring the regular season.  As much as I despise the Pats (Raider's Fan) I am pulling for Brady (SF Bay Area Native) to get the record.

Hi Nate, you are right and I thought I had that clarification typed in but I guess I only thought it. LOL

You aren't still pissed about the Tuck Rule game are you? I used to like the Raiders way back when Stabler, Biletnikoff, Art Shell and Jim Otto and Otis Sistrunk played along with others like Jim Hendricks, Cliff Branch and Bo Jackson. All great Raiders. I despise Jack Tatum probably more than you despise the Pats.

Thanks for stopping by.

Joan, everyone will be watching considering that NBC and CBS networks will have it simulcasted with the NFL Network. Some are saying that this will be the most watched regular season football game in history.

Linda, this will be real fun and a great game.

Aziz, Maroney is extremely well rested and if th ePats get up early they will work Maroney as he will have a week off.

Jim, that would be nice. Rice was and is the best receiver ever.

Rick, 16-0 is great 19-0 is the best.

Bill, we are out straight this morning and early afternoon so I am glad the game is at night. It will be fun to fire up the tube and relax and watch a history in the making.

Good thing you posted this yesterday instead of trying to do it in the last hour or so, huh?

Records tied and one broken - 9:02pm.  Score doesn't look so great, but it's early and they do do a great job coming from behind when they need to.

Come on Pats!!

Plenty of time left and we get the ball to start the 2nd half. The celebrating in the end zone really hurt.

Tempers need to calm down. Too much trash talking I'm sure.

Rick, I think you are correct. The Colts say Harrison will play today and I am glad the Pats have a bye.

The Pats did not wear pads this past week and they sure did struggle trying to match the intensity of the Giants. I have always said the Pats secondary is weak. I was surprised the right side of the offensive line was missing two starters. I had not heard that leading up to the game.

This team certainly is special.

Patriots Rule - now they will have a short breather and then I'm sure Coach Belicheck will be running them through the drills for the first playoff game in Foxboro. They can do it as they have proven time and again this season.

Jay,

Just have a moment and wanted to stop in here and say HOOOORAAAYYYY!!!! Last night was a real nail biter and a lot of yelling going on at my house!!!

But I "knew" they would pull through all the way. Kind of neat being able to watch such an historical moment.

What really bothered me is the Giant fans booing them when they first came out. Sports are supposed to be comraderie, or am I mistaken? At least we can revel in this for another week before the playoffs:) la la la la!!!

The part that REALLY bothered me was Vince Wilfork trying to poke Brandon Jacobs' eye to Poughkeepsie!!! And while we're on Giants fans, lets not forget that the slew of Pats fans that bought their tickets on stub hub was doing their darnedest to interrupt the NFLN postgame show (which is moronically placed 10 feet from drunken fans)....

And while we're on the intoxicated.....Bob Kraft wasn't partaking in any booze that night, was he???? :)

I am sooo happy they went 16-0...now onto the playoffs at Foxborough. Any Noreasters coming? Thank god for the bye this upcoming weekend.

I'm still trying to figure out why it looked like the Giants were trying to just run the clock in the last 5 minutes, as if they were up. I know I'm blonde, but come on...they were throwing or running down the middle of the field instead of using the sidelines. Of course I'm not complaining mind you, just curious as to that kind of play calling.

GO PATS!!  :)

David, it sure was a great game even better than the Colts game. Giants played their hearts out.

Ann, It sure was excellent and this will all be for naught if they don't win the SB.

Aziz, you missed a great second half and yes it will be a great playoff.

Judy, Pats rule for sure.

Karen, the booing didn't bother me at all as I am sure the Pats fans do boo the opposing team in Foxborough.

Renee, I was so disappointed in the Chief's this year. Rebuilding time I guess.

David, :-)

Jim, the minute they showed Vince stuffing his finger in Jacobs face mask I thought "oh no I'm going to hear it from Jim". I can't stand that type of behavior and there is no excuse for it at all.

I didn't catch any of the intoxication of anyone so I can't comment on that. You'll have to enlighten me.

Chris, That's why the Giants will done when they play the Bucs. Poor play calling.

GO Pats !!!

Jay-  like you, I cannot stand the trash-talk and everything that goes on now.....horrible.

Mr. Kraft was on the set with the Mooch, Neion, and Eisen post-game and was either super-duper-emotional or a little tipsy; talking nonsense, slurring words.......NO problem with a team owner enjoying a few while his team caps 16-0...but someone's gotta have better judgement in throwing him on live tv.

Jim, I never saw that as I usually watch a local station called the 5th quarter here and they break the game down and do their thing and then they break so we can watch the post game interviews with Belichick and then Brady then Moss and sometimes they sprinkle in a few of the lessor known players for a quick word or two. I enjoy it.

Suprisingly enough I have heard of no mention of Kraft around here. I wonder if it was almost as bad as the Namath interview a few yrs. ago.

Eddy I think they are destined to go 19-0. It won't be easy and all teams they face will play lik ethe giants played. It just doesn't get any easier.

8:32pm • #58

I felt bad for Suzy Kolber during Namath's meltdown, not him.....he'd been glorified his whole career for being a playboy and then making one 'out-there' guarantee and then winning. How bout the girl that's worked exceptionally hard to overcome a female sideline reporter stereotype just to put up with a drunk has-been??? Yuck.

While I don't believe in destiny, it's hard to argue with the Boston area right now.....Jay, don't you believe ALL TEAMS should play the way the Eagles, Ravens and Giants did? Be physical with the receivers and knock Brady down and stay in his face all night!?!?! It sounds remarkably like a formula THEY used to beat a guy named Manning multiple times!!!!
