I visited my dear doctor today.  He said I need to sleep more.  Because of my lack of sleep, I have gained a little weight over the years and to my horror, I have huge gallstones and I have to have surgery in the next two weeks.

I plead with you, all my fellow rainers, get checked out.  These gallstones went undetected long enough that a few are the size of rocks and many are pebbles.  The surgeon will determine next week if they are taking the entire gall bladder.  The doctors caught them before they became too painful.

Yes, I have to admit, I am a little scared of the latter.  But at least I feel better warning all of you.  And I know I will be go to go after the surgery\If any one has had this surgery, please share your experience and suggestions.  For others go to this link...

Vangie, I know this one points at me... I certainly am over-worked and under-rested. I'll be praying for you as you face these problems, and I hope that gives you some comfort. God Bless. Please keep us posted on your health!

BS, Sleep has nothing to do with your health issues. I was in the medical field for my entire life until last year...Find another doctor and get a second opinion...If he saw me, he would probably say I slept to much...

PLEASE GET A SECOND OPINION,..,.,he sounds like a quack!  I had kidney cancer for two years and the two doctor's that I went to said I was stressed.  Thank G*d, I worked in Nuclear Medicine and checked myself out (with the permission of my MD director)...I found my own cancer...

Please GF...call me or just go get a second opinion...sleep isn't causing your issues!!!! From a retired 25 yr medical executive!

Vangie I will say my prayers for you too.  I got some detressing news today from my doctor on a different thing but yeah have had the gallbladder surgery.  For me it is kind of annoying because there are some things that I can't or shouldn't eat but do anyways.

Take it really easy after the surgery that is the best medicine.

I wish you the best of luck.  I find it is not only our profession but anyone who is passionate about what they do are prone to health problems due to over working.

Vangie - I will keep you in my prayers.  I had the surgery a few years ago.  It was lazer surgery and I felt amazingly better right after I woke up from the surgery.  In fact when they took me back to my room I was up and walking the halls as soon as they left my room.  The nurses had to stop me in the hall and make me go back to bed.  I was in pretty bad shape when I went in for the surgery.  It was on an emergency basis.  I had a gallstone stuck in my pancreas and it was really painful.  It took them 2 days to stabilize my condition until they could do the surgery.  But, the surgery wasn't bad and I was back to work within a week (I think).  Good luck, I'll be praying for you.

Thanks Linda and Ryan.  I appreciate the prayers.

Karen, My Exit Sister.  He has yelled at me for the past 12 years during pregnancies when I was supposed to be resting while on best rest, when I fell asleep behind the wheel (didn't get hurt, didn't wreck, but scared the hell out of myself and four other drivers and a police officer), and as part of my getting back in shape.

The gallstones were found during my last pregnancy, but I choose to ignore my obgyn's recommendations and didn't even think to tell my doctor.  Well my baby girl is fifteen months and I have had chronic digestive issues for the past year.

I did get a second opinion and the doctor I saw, bust my chops about my weight and had the gull to tell me to loose 50 pounds and call him in three months, well I reported him to the board. Chump!!

My doctor is great, I see the specialist on Monday for a full plan.  But I am positive.. I will be fine.

Thank you Adam... I know agents who get about 5 hours of sleep a night.  (ME!!!!) And most of the Rainers who blog.  I mean come on 3:00 am and there are usually over 300 Rainers online.

Bobbi- This is what my doctor is trying to avoid.. emergency surgery.  Did you loose weight after the surgery?

DID ANY ONE LOOSE WEIGHT AFTER THE SURGERY.

Thanks Konnie... I have six daughters and my two oldest have been on the web for the past 5 hours and reporting to me about what they have read.

My 12 year old just told me that my 171 Bad Cholestoral level surely contributed.  She then told me that gravy and chinese food was banned in our house.  She told me it was bad enough my having 5 more daughters now this. But she wants a brother. She's is too smart for her own good.

Have a successful New Year.

Vangie, I'm sorry to hear that you are going to have surgery, but glad that it is going to be addressed.  Your reminder to all of us is good advice.  Thank you.  Sometimes we get so busy taking care of others that we forget to take care of ourselves or our own health.  Good luck to you!

Thank you Christine.  The fear just hit me this morning.  My two oldest daughters woke up crying because they thought that I was dying.  Funny huh!! I am a follower of "The Secret", for the past three years, I have suffered with high blood pressure and recently in my last two visits my blood pressure is great.  When I told my doctor that I had not taken the blood pressure meds since February, I thought he was going to past out.

So knowing that I told my daughters to only think positive thoughts and that I feel great and I will be great but even better after the surgery.  I definately will be taking it easy after the surgery.  I hope anyway.  I have 13 settlements scheduled in January.

PS.. I am going to email you off line... My husband and I are thinking of buying land in Tennessee Mountain country.  Wanted to know average cost of acre.

Thanks a million Kris.  Your well wishes are very appreciated.  Don't forget to get checked before its too late.  The pain (I have heard) is incredible.

Have a blessed New Year!!

This is interesting to hear. I have been having horrible stomach pain for about 17 months and finally they are thinking it might be my gallbladder, even though there are no stones present. I go in for a Hida Scan this week to see if thats the case. I am interested in hearing how this surgery went for you, incase I am in need of one. Hope you are feeling better!

Vangie,

Now come on GF, weight does create issues. I too have to loose some.

and Lindsey horrible stomach pain can be due to ulcers, and gall bladder disease...It's sad that they refer to it as 40, fat, and I forget the rest.

Lindsey, I used to do Hida Scans..(that is a scan to check your gall bladder).in fact I ran the state's Nuclear Medicine Program for a Company from NY.  If your EJECTION FRACTION IS OVER 35%, THEY probably won't do anything, b/c the insurance co. won't pay for it...feel free to email me.

Lot's of time's it's a bacterial infection in the stomach, ulcer's, etc. be proactive as if I didn't take care of myself, I would have died from Kidney cancer about 3 yrs ago.

 Good luck,

Karen
