Wasting Money On Advertising?

Alright, your ready! You've planned and designed your ad, prepared it and gotten all of your other sales materials in place. You are ready to get it out there and generate those sales!

So, you place the ad in your local paper because after all it is local in your town, your area, so it has to be a good place to market.  You wait for the phone to start ringing or the front door to start swinging with potential clients, hoping to be like the guy in that picture right there!

But, your ad has run all week now and notta, zip, zilch, a big ZERO. No swinging doors, no possible clients, no ringing phone. What happened?  Your disappointed and concerned, your checkbook is lighter and you know it's going to hurt your future advertising ideas. No new business, no new capital to work with.

So now your sitting there like a bump on a log, not knowing what to do next. That doesn't look fun --->

Has this ever happened to you? I am sure it has!

Most businesses go through these frustrating yet very expensive experiments. An important key to having a successful advertising that works  is selecting the right advertising medium to use.

If you don't select the right advertising mediums you are wasting money and really impacting your bottom line. Which some don't ever recover from because they give up! (I should know, I have been down that road a time or two, so yes I had to learn the very hard way!)

Not to mention there are several ways and places to advertise for free, but I will talk about that another time. Usually I end up talking about it and get into a completely different topic cause it just flows out of me sometimes.. but never said I was perfect!

Sometimes people select advertising mediums for all the wrong reasons. Just like advertising in local newspaper most think it's a great way to market but just because it' local doesn't mean its good does it?  Of course not. Your clients that you need probably don't read the newspaper or that part anyway.

Alright, my fingers are tired....tomorrow I will put out the second part of this article. I can't wait to finish it, I hope you can't either!

"Success never happens in a straight line. There is always going to be twists and turns, ups and downs. Just remember that conquering those will make you successful!"

Marey, when nothing happens it does make you wonder that you have completely missed the target.

If you can't afford to invest in a thorough, professional marketing campaign, you can't afford to advertise at all.

There is nothing more fallacious than this business of discontinuing print media advertising "because everyone knows most buyers are coming from the Internet."  Using the Internet as your sole marketing strategy is a quick way to go out of business.

Marey~ great points.  The most effective strategy is to track the response rate and move on if your advertising is not generating the results you want.

Marey, I think I have found that the best advertising we can find is either free or cheap. Word of mouth advertising (also known as referrals) is without a doubt the cheapest since it is free. All most websites cost is nothing (like AR for example)

Stephen -You are right. The best are cheap or free. Referrals are great as well. Thanks for stopping stephen and sharing your thoughts. Have a great night!
