What does it take to get Rainers to Associate with you?

I have had an virtual Christmas Party. I have posted useful blogs and reponded to many others.  And if I leave a post, I associate with the Poster. But yet, I have only had 7 Rainers associate with me.

What is the secret?  Begging?

I just referred a client to a fellow Rainer who responded and had several others respond, yet no one posted.  I would prefer to refer to those on my Associate list than a totally new person or someone who has a bad repretation.  Luckily I like the young lady who responded first.

Tell me the secret.  Pretty please!!!

Vangie - I would recommend commenting regularly on the blogs that you enjoy as a starting point.  I will add you as an associate!

Whoops!  I already added you previously.  Apparently, I was one of the seven you were talking about.

Interesting that you are concerned with how many associations you have.  I am more concerned with subscribers to my blog.  I thought that if more people subscribed here on AR, then more people would comment, and perhaps that would attract more people and perhaps even better google-juice, as they say.  I have to admit, though, that I haven't written as many heart-felt posts as I would like.  There are a few that I am truly proud of, and I think if I had the time and energy to write more of that type of post, perhaps I would reach my goal....  How do more associations help you?

Hi Vangie:  I checked your points total and your comments, and you really do comment quite a bit on other people's blog posts, so that can't be the problem.  I don't know.  I have not read very many of your posts, but I promise I will, and get back to you if I have any brainstorms while reading them.

I think it takes a while to have people get to know you.  You seem like a nice person, from what I can tell.  And apparently your husband thinks so, too, with you having six daughters... LOL.  I would just try and be as positive as possible, keep on commenting on other's blog posts, and subscribe to their blogs.

I will keep an "eye out" for you, and if I think of some pointers, I will share them with you.  What I might suggest is that you take a look at some of my previous blog posts, and see if you can get some ideas from them, too.  Best of luck Vangie.  I am sure you will do just fine.  Take care...    Karen Anne

Vangie:  I totally know what you feel like.  I just took another look at your comments, and really, you just started commenting on a regular basis about two months ago.  That really is not all that long.  It takes a while to get to know people, and you are doing a great job of that by posting all of the comments you have.

While I have not looked at some of the individual comments you have made on people's posts, I suggest that you make your comments long enough so that they show you are really interested in what the writers have to say.  Some Rainers just rush through making comments, and barely say anything.  I try and take my time, and usually do pretty well in expressing myself, as can probably be seen by the length of my comments here.

So really, after looking at your comment history, it really has been a short while.  I would guess that after another thirty to sixty days, as more people get to know you, your "associates" list will grow.  So... keep your chin up, woman !  By the way, if you would ever like to email me with questions about anything... please do so.  Take care...

Vangie- I'll add you as an associate!  Anyone that has a reference as "kind" (as you've written in your profile) is my type of person and I'll be reading your blog posts to get to know you better.

Happy New Year!

If people find your content of value, they will reciprocate.  I do not associate just because someone posts a comment or I comment on them.  I want an associate to bring both of us value.

Hi Angie, I have only recently realized that I should be adding associates as I find  connections.  I am probably not the only one who is a bit dense about it.  I told myself that this week I would work on it (still need too!) and add associates...so I'm off to add you!

Hi Vangie,

Step One is to make certain that the Agents, Loan Officers, Lawyers, Attorneys, and the other Active Rain people know how to Associate with you.  I, for one, have no idea how to do so.  I, personally, have 5 associations on my home page, and I have been wondering, until now, what that function means.

Thus, if there are others out there like me, that may be 25% of the problem right there.

I havew a few regulars that I communicate with but basically new people are commenting everyday.  This board is so large that sometimes it becomes difficult to navigate to where you want to go.

Vangie - One of the reasons you may not be getting any associations is the fact that you post all your blogs publicly and some are of a members only nature. I would go back and rethink each post to see if it should be open for public viewing by asking myself these questions.

1. is this information of value to my real estate customers? then post public

2. is this information I seek or questions I need answers too but is on of no value to my real estate customers? then post members only
