If you are looking for the charm of older towns and neighborhoods you might consider Katy for your home. Katy has been a small town that you could identify by the large rice dryer and water tower in the middle of town, Snappy's cafe with traditional Texas food, and very good football teams. In the recent past the area was renowned for the huge number of Snow Geese that overwintered in nearby rice fields of such places as Cinco Ranch. Unfortunately the price of rice dropped to the point it was no longer feasible to grow the crop and the Snow Goose population moved further down the coast.
