It is a Saturday and I am in the mist of cleaning out the unwanted files that I have accumulate over the last year. In addition to that requires putting all of the closed files in a file rack loaded with boxes. I for one hope I never have to see them for awhile and for the wrong reasons.

"There is a fine line between genius and insanity"  "These is also a fine line about starting a new year with achievable goals that are realistic, and that can be accomplished." Finally, this business means nothing if you have no intrinsic values to monitor by."

Anyone that tells you that success is a form of being lucky is talking off the top of their rear.

Anyone that tells you that some people have it and some just don't say that because they are on the top now.

Anyone that looks at you and says that you could never do that you just look at them and tell them to go to Hell.

What I am about to say in this first segment might make some wonder about me; but I assure you it is true.

IT was not long ago I had the World by the tail. I could do no wrong. I had very little health insurance, if any. I was a major kick boxer, I ran, watch what I ate, and I thought I was really something. Boy, this turned very fast.

I had almost two million dollars, debt free, and I just went to my vacation home in Door County a lot. MY 5400 sq. foot Frank Lloyd right Contemporary was payed for, I had a huge pool on a hill top. I had made it after hard word.

I have never been one to mince words. What happened was nothing but misfortune and Bullcrap.

One day I did not feel good and I noticed that I was shaking all falling down and hurting myself. Long and short of it;I had an advanced case of Parkinson's Disease. This did not help my blood sugar in anyway either.

I started to think about the word success and failure as things got worst. Even though I was a single parent I was in fear of God that he would be brought up right. His mother who I was married to is, and would be a great mom. I was frightened. I began to define for the future how success and failure really went, and how it was achieved.

it was not working to death or exhaustion, In fact, it was not labeled as a two way street, and it certainly did not mean that we had to climb that stairway to heaven to make sure we had a spot waiting for us. Not even close!

I occurred some Kidney failure, I was in a septic coma, had my elbows replaced, went through all the radiation and chemicals that come with removing growths of my liver and kidney, and a spot in my colon. It just kept coming. THE WAKE UP CALL!!Never assume that life is a great big bowl of fruit waiting for the taking. Always be yourself. IF you have not yet, start getting into people and really getting into them, big time. Ask them for business, tell them to tell there friends, about you, do your calls, do what to you need to do, at any cost that can make you their Realtor for life. Pick up the phone and call. Pick up the phone and call five of your past customers each today. Not tomorrow, do it today.

What happened to me was one of the greatest things that could have happened. It sent a wake up call and told me that I sure as heck better not put things off, and that the word procrastination should be an obsoleteword.

Defeat, what a bad feeling, especially whet we bring it on out of our own fear or laziness. How Sad, very Sad!

Now more than ever we should put our past behind us, refine our ways, hone in on our selling, buying, and closing skills, ask for the appointment, be consistent, do what others are not doing, built repoire with lenders, do seminars for first time buyers, get a great mailer campaigning down. BE your self. Do not tell people that at "XYZ" we are the best, we have all the buyers, we sell the homes" Remember you got your foot in the door, and they like you. Talk, be honest, and ask for the listing! I always give a Seller a Lead Paint Form and a Property Condition Report and remind then that if any thing can get you in court it can be these two forms. Folks lets just fill out the information now, roll up our sleeves, and get your home some. IT is just as important that we concentrate on where we will find you a home everyday. Sign here if you would!

Failure is something that can occur before you even get into the door. You can say such things such as  these people are out of my league, or  I wonder being the fifth broker that they are just going to blow me off.

GET this out of your head now, and before you enter the door, you are the one they need, your are the one that is going to level with them, you are a broker that stands apart from the others that just put in in the MLS. You are the one that does not get paid until it closes. BE a power house, ans tell them I don't list houses, I sell them. My SOLD SIGNS  prove this. I want to put a sold sign on yours, as well as shake your hand for your new home. The first step is to look over the home, get our solid game plan, get it out there everywhere, then SOLD

REMEMBER SUCCESS IS DUPLICABLE. BUT SO IS DEFEAT. IT ALL IS ATTITUDE. ALL ATTITUDE!

An upright forward motion

This is very powerful stuff, Tom.  It's an amazing story and one I think about every day....your trials have shaped the man that you are and as I've said before, you set the finest example of anyone I know of someone who pulls themselves back up and succeeds out of sheer determination.

You've taught me how valuable life really is....each moment a precious gift and that each of us has the ability to fly if we only believe and commit and how easily it can all disappear if we take it for granted.

yours in humbleness,

Jo

I am so healed up that every day or so I am going to add another of my secret tidbits so all of our brothers and sisters in activerain can look at all the rocket scientists painting gloom and doom and ask them what was their motive for painting such a gloom painting.

Tom! What a beautiful post with such heart! We just never know what is to come our way, do we? Life is too short to put off anything for tomorrow as we just don't have any guarantees for tomorrow. We can however strive to make the best with what we have. Thank you so much for sharing this and I certainly needed to read it today. Hope to get to talk to you soon-
