I have been listening and reading material by different people over the past two months, such as Jim Rohn, Jeffrey Gittomer, Dan Kennedy etc. Today as I was working out I was thinking "What one thing can I do for my customers today?"

My thinking was triggered by reading something about giving value, if you do not give value why do you deserve an increase in income, or why do you deserve the job you are in? Many people want more money, better health care or whatever, but what value are they giving to deserve that? In our profession of real estate our commission is under pressure, but if you ask most agents why are you worth x% of my equity in my house, they cannot explain what value they are giving. Then I jumped in my mind to the fact Real estate in 2008 a book was written during the NAR conference by all these realtors contributing to the project.

So I want to address this question to you today, whether you want to apply it to buyers, sellers or past clients, your sphere or your farm what can you do today to help them today?

I am not suggesting we write a book, but maybe we can with all the ideas from around the country, and maybe we can implement others ideas and see how we can improve our value for our clients. At least I hope that I will get some ideas I can use that I have not thought of, I have got 365 days ahead of me in 2008, so go to it Active Rain, let us know what one thing you can do to improve your value to your client/customers today?

Oh, I love this idea!  Must put on my thinking cap and see what I can come up with, and keep an eye on this post to see what others come up with.

And maybe make a sign for my computer that asks just that question, right in front of me every day.

It's a GREAT idea Nick. It's a fine balance in my opinion....bringing the value or smothering them w/ LOVE LOL. You've given me something to think about, I'll check back when I have something of value to contribute.

From personal experience, my clients love to be updated about recent listings, price reductions and sales in their neighborhood. By maximizing the functionality of my local MLS, I can send email updates to my clients. In my opinion, this is a great way to keep in touch with your clients and generate new listings.

I'll continue to think of other action items that show value to real estate clients. If you ever need contributions or a sounding board for this effort, please keep me in mind.

Much Success to You in 2008!

Tricia, Great idea, I think that in itself is a great idea, an encouraggement to take some action daily.

Colleen I am sure you have many ideas to contribute, so don't hold back, no idea is too small, it may work for someone somewhere.

David, absolutely, how often do we think to update our customers, monthly what a great way to stay in touch and show you care.

One I thought of just now is letting customers know about any new stores or restaurants that open, and maybe even see if they will give you a coupon for your client to try them out.

Great post Nick...It is very important to see how we can add value and make your name become as common as your client's doctor's name.  Thanks.
