Does it matter what your car looks like to a client for the first time?

Does it matter if your car is clean or not when your client looks at it for the first time?

Does it matter if your car's interior smell is clean or smelly when your client gets in it for the first time?

I believe in first impressions all the time, not just sometimes. I believe it does matter.

i try to wash my car every time I make a first impression.

I always keep the interior clean at all times.

I use a dryer sheet (Bounce) that is placed under the driver's seat and passengers seat to keep a clean smell in the car at all times. The sheet will remove the odor from the car instead of masking the odor like freshner's do.

8 Comments on First impressions of your car that you drive

I think what you drive contributes to people's 1st impression of you to some degree. My Tahoe says - room for all, we ride above the rest & bigger is better!

Where is the picture of your car Susan?  I drive the standard Lexus SUV! I liked my convertible prior to real estate a lot better.  Guess I'll have to get a new career to go back to my favorite!

Susan, I'm going to have to try out the dryer sheet idea.

Peter - i like you Tahoe saying.

Tracy - Ok I will take a picture and put it on. It is a VW Touareg TDI that gets over 21 miles to the gallon and it is fun to drive. It has 310 horse power around 2000 RPM and it will get out and go. I am not really sure what it really says, but it is white and I try and wash it min, once a week. I will post the picture tomorrow.

Sondra - Yes try the dryer sheets and you will be amazed.

Susan - I don't think the KIND of car is as important as the CONDITION of the car. Having a clean car, inside and out, reflects how you respect your client, yourself, and your business. I'll have to try the dryer sheets. I've also liked using the scent hangers (which I don't hang) that smell like fresh leather.

I agree!  But, with our water restrictions I have not been having mine washed quite as ofter.  I like the dryer sheet idea too.

Hi Susan,
I agree but I must admit it is difficult with a 3 year old passenger that likes to eat crackers in the car!  The dryer sheet is an awesome idea, thanks.

Sharon - Once I thought about your comment I agree to a degree. The clean is the most important, but I believe you are still judged.

Diane - I know about the water restrictions, we to have the same issue and I am on well water. I do it real quick on a Sunday late after the sun goes down.

Cynthia - I can see your delimea about the 3 year Old, but they will not look under the seat and you will take your finger and hook it on the spring to the seat.
