Happy New Year

Happy New Year from Bill Roberts

Here we are. The old year is almost over. The new year is just around the corner.

2007 was certainly an "interesting" year. Real Estate may never be the same.

Personally, I hope it won't ever be the same. I'm an eternal optimist. I think it is always going to get better.

Some of the changes we are in store for are new lending practices, new marketing methods, new transaction management systems, lower over-all commissions and fees, less agents will do more business, and the "Old" real estate business model will go the ways of the horse and buggy.

I hope the changes include higher standards for all who contribute to this industry. We deal with what is the largest financial transaction in most people's lives. We ALL need to be professionals: Professionals who maintain professional standards and ethics and Professionals who are properly educated for the duties of this profession.

I want to thank everybody that has made ActiveRain the place that it is. Matt and Jon, thank you for creating this place. And Bob and Jerry and the rest of the staff who keep it going and growing, thank you.

I also want to thank those bloggers that consistently put up good, germane content and everybody that comments, thus insuring a good conversation and learning experience for all.

Happy New Year! And Thank You All!

Bill, and a very Happy New Year to you!

We'll make time to get together when I make my way back down to San Diego......

Happy New Year from sunny Orlando Florida. May 2008 be a better year for all of us.

Back at you guy.

Yes, higher standards are important.  My wish for the new year is

That home prices in my area will come down about 25% so buyers will and can buy again.

That the number of agents will be reduced to the level pre 2003 so that experience will again top price for our services.

That the financial industry will begin to seriously take the concept of "peer review" to heart and clean things up.  I suspect that a serious reduction in the number of loan officers is in order too.  That happened after the hot years in the early 1990s and is needed again.

Have a wonderful holiday and a great 2008.

Bill,

I hope we have higher standards for those in the industry ... yet I fear that having higher standards will be in conflict with associations desire to have more memberships.

Bill N., I'm looking forward to that. Happy New Year.

Allen, The associations have nothing to do with our need for higher standards. Happy New Year.

I'm just going to keep doing what I did this year...a successful life...in all aspects. :)  My husband always says, "I love my life and I love my wife". Can't think of anything to rhyme with husband so I'll just leave it at that lol!

Bill- Thank you for being here and Happy New Year to you too! Of course you know how I feel, my commissions are going up not down! We just had a buyer buy us a very awesome Christmas gift. We just had another buyer tell us that if the bank does not pay us our fee on a short sale they will not buy that house, they will move on to another one or they will pay our fee. 2008 started out with our feet on the ground and deals in the hopper!
