7 Comments on There is a Difference Between Decorating and Home Staging
I had never thought of the difference between decorating and staging exactly this way before but it makes total sense to me. Staging is a big help in selling a home.

Betty: I have had sellers confuse the 2 before. It's not the same thing. You decorate for 'you' personally & decorate for your buyers when you finally sell. Decorating often has too many distractions & collectibles about.
That's a wonderful explanation of the difference between the two. You want buyers to feel like they're in what could be their home - not guests in your home.
This makes a lot of sense. I have never thought about it this way before. Great re-blog! Thanks.
Marte: Great point.
Cindy: Good thoughts from Kathy.
Lyn, why is it that I'd love to live in a staged home rather than a decorated home? It must the design aestetic that appeals to me. Always so crisp and formal, yet inviting.
Thanks for the reblog, Lyn.
Ellen - I've had homeowners contact me that are not selling but they too like the look of a staged home and want that look duplicated in their own home.
