scalpers were getting for this? She will also play the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ this weekend. I could have sold it for $1,500 but come on, how many times does a 15 year old marketing machine come to town. Needless to say I am not a cold, money hungry Dad. I actually took all 3 of my kids and my wife to this extravaganza. For those of you who don't know Hannah Montana, it is the equivalent of not knowing what text messaging is. Seems that all the kids from teenagers down to some 3 year olds are into her. Hannah Montana is the alter ego of Miley Cyrus. The concert was quite entertaining, the Jonas Brothers opened up. They are graduates of Eastern Christian, a christian school in Northern New Jersey. The concert was very high energy and really family friendly. Hannah Montana is only 15 years old. It was really a sight to see all these little teeny boppers that knew every word to every song. I have to admit, with 3 kids in the house I knew quite a few as well. The things we do as parents. Overall the concert wasn't that loud, but the screaming of all the teenage girls dwarfed the sound system many times. My children had a great time and then we went out for ice cream. My oldest said it was the best day of her life. Those are the moments that we cherish as parents. Has anyone else foregone a financial windfall and sacrificed to make a memory for their children? I'm sure you have, I would love to hear about them.

My best friend had the chance to purchase extra tickets but she didnt, because she feels it's extremely unethical to purchase tickets for a kids concert and make exorbitant amounts of money off it and I kind of agree. Not sure I can say I wouldnt do it myself but I agree it's unethical.

It really wasn't much of a thought to sell them. When you have kids, you do whatever you can for them. If I did get my hands on some extras, I certainly knew a lot of people who would have loved to use them (I would only have sold them at face price) :)

I don't know about financial windfall but I do know what it is like when the last college payment is made. The biggest pay raise I'lll ever see. And worth every cent.

My Daughter Is In Love With Hannah Montana.....

I so would have paid you more than that and driven up there to see it. My kids would have freaked and I wouldn't have had to buy them anything else for a good year!

Hi Sal, we never miss an episode at our house. It's actually one that I'll watch with my kids and not mind at all. What a great thing you did, to take your kids and enjoy the experience with them. It's going to be one of those things they will always remember.

I took my wife and daughters to Hanna in Knoxville. However, we had extra ticket and I sold mine to a friend of the family who needed 3 tickets. So, I gave up mine and sat in the parking lot listening to a 4OT football game between Tennessee and Kentucky. I would have like to seen Hanna for the novelty but, I enjoyed myself listening to the game.

Thanks for stopping by. Your blogs are awesome, I am a big fan. I heard that there is going to be a Hannah Montana movie coming out shortly. My guess is that they will have recorded the concert and let the folks who didn't get to see her live watch her on the big screen. I'm sure my kids will want to go to that too.

I feel like I don't watch it much, however, each time I walk by the tv it seems that I have seen that episode. As a dad with little kids, my goal is to make as many lasting memories as I can. Hopefully they will remember.

Fortunately in the Northeast, we really don't go too nuts for college football. Rutgers has made a little splash over the last couple of years, but people don't rearrange their schedules to hear the games. I'm sure the friend of your family won't forget that you hooked him up!

Sal--Our first trip in 2000 to WDW the plane was overbooked. They offered a free ticket and first class upgrade to rebook on the following flight. One family with kids jumped at the chance...Our kids were so excited to see Mickey we couldn't delay them for 3-4 hours for a free ticket. Then this year my boys received a Wii Guitar Hero game that I think sold on eBay for around $9K before Christmas....Atleast that was the rumor around the Christmas dinner table. Never would have sold it as my kids happiness is worth more than the cash. You did the right thing!

We took our daughter to Myrtle Beach one year. She was so bad I was willing to fly here home in the morning, take her to Grandmas house and fly back the same day. My wife decided that we should all just leave.

Last year we took both kids to Disney for Christmas. I was none to happy about spending Christmas in the heat, or facing the crowds, or paying the cost, but I tried. My daughter loved it, my son cried the whole time. He and I hated it. On the 3rd day I snapped and was ready to jump from out 14th floor balcony, so me and the Boy changed our flights and I flew him home 5 days early leaving my wife and daughter to celebrate Christmas alone. He was fine once he got home and away from the freak show called Disney. Even this year my kids were watching the Disney parade on TV. My daughter loved it, my son kept saying NO NO NO and refused to watch it. THATS MY BOY!!!

Ok, so here goes..Hanna Who? Oh, I admit I have heard the name and about the fervor involving her tickest(another AR member mentioned it) but I am absolutely clueless about who she is aside from that, or what age or her music... hmmm. My youngest is 17 1/2 and a boy, maybe that is why? Sounds like you had a ball, good for you!

I'm with Vanessa...no idea who Hannah Montana is. However, I once won 6 tickets to Woodstock (the 2nd one) and although unable to go myself because of a recent surgery, lined up my 3 kids with 3 of their friends to go. What a Mom!!!

We're going to go watch the concert when they play it at the movie theater. I couldn't get tickets and can't afford the $$ amount they are going for now anyway. Funny when people are mentioning that their are three year olds who know the words. My poor 2 year old son, knows the words to High School Musical because that is all his older sisters (and maybe even mom:) wants to liston to in the car.

The WII is a hot commodity. Guitar hero is still hard to come by. I remember in Holidays past the Cabbage Patch kid shortage. I guess that each generation has an item that parents can't seem to get for kids who want it.

Those are unbelievable stories. I used to be more down on Disney myself. My wife and kids have softened me. You just have to realize that Walt isn't around anymore. The Hannah Montana was good family fun, we would go back.

It's ok not to know who she is. She is another young pop star. The wait is on to see if she will hang around for 50 years or just be another Behind the Music or True Hollywood Story. Gail, you should post some photos of those kids in the mud, I can't believe the 2nd Woodstock was over 10 years ago already.

I agree with you, hopefully the movie theaters won't sell out. Interesting point you make about your son. We have 3 children and when our oldest was 5 she was still watching Barney, now our 5 year old is watching what her big sister sees. Some of the tunes are very good, I catch my wife singing Hannah songs every once in awhile.
