To help and ring in the New Year we're going to be featuring posts of peoples predictions for 2008 over the next several days.  We'll then revisit these posts at the end of 2008 and see who had the clearest crystal ball.  So if you've got some predictions for 2008 whether its about the real estate market, the online space or what ActiveRain member is most likely to be hauled off in a straight jacket let us have them.

If you've got a good post you've made on this subject leave a link to it in the comments to help us track them all down.

Yup, we've got enough talented writters with, um creative minds that I expect some some good reading on Monday :)

I did my unfortunately un-funny market/economy prediction post early today, I'll try to warm up my creative side for a prediction post on the ActiveRain community tomorrow...

This is what is known as "staking one's self out and waiting for the thundering herd" which is quickly identified by anyone who has read "Centennial", Michener.

I'll be posting up my predictions.  I'm not shy...  Heck, even if I'm totally off-base, I'll beat the hurricane forecasters the year after Katrina when they said that Global Warming would cause terrible storms the following (records for few storms) year...

Matt, how fun! I'm not sure I will make it past Jan 31st without getting carted away so I just may win that category.

I predict The Steelers will win the Superbowl; I predict Interest rates will not top 7%; I predict Charlie Wilson will win the Academy Award; and I predict more and more young people will see the light and stop using plastic and rediscover hard, green cash :-)

Matt, Happy New Year and to all Rainers, a peaceful 2008!

Bob,

What a fun idea...ok here's my prediction...

I predict that we will see the explosion of mobile blogs with both pictures from phone types and then streaming video mobile blogging from cell phones straight to blogs with technology like Qik. Ok - there I said it - now let's see what happens :-);

I predict that Active Rain will double in size with the same % of people active blogging regardless of how many join;

I predict the surgeon general issues warning that blogging is bad for your health (just joking about that one) - but anyone but me put on weight blogging - maybe that "mobile blogging" is the way for me to go - lol

Happy New Year - Wishing Active Rain nothing but unimaginable success in 2008!!!

1. Gold will exceed $1000 an ounce  2.  Real estate market will begin to show signs of improvement and will have leveled out by Sept. 2008  3.  Hillary Clinton will become the first female president  4.  There will be a massive earthquake in the mid to western part of the US in late summer early fall.  5.  The US will experience another terrorist attack but it will be something unusual; not bombs or blowing anything up  6.  There will be a trend toward simplifying and less is more in design, real estate and clothing.

1:44am • #37
  1. Santa Claus will travel in an electric sleigh.
  2. Jesus Christ will be Time Magazine Person of the Year.
  3. Hillary Clinton will be elected and then recalled.
  4. John Edwards will declare bankruptcy.
  5. ECOS will be "outed" as a racist and sexist hate group.

Some of these may be wishful thinking rather than realistic expectations.

Hey Gayle... if there is a terrorist attack, Hillary won't be President... unless it's after the elections.
1:55pm • #44

Great idea!

My personal predictions are:

  • A "dark horse" candidate will be elected president.
  • There will be a cyber attack on the US and other Western countries. It will fail but do major damage to the the Internet which will implode and have to rebuilt from scratch.
  • Real Estate (unfortunately) will continue to decline but begin to stabilize in the fourth quarter if we are lucky. If the Government interferes it will be a mess until 2010!
  • Credit will become tighter and tighter adding to the slowing of the market.
  • Several major national builders will fold or consolidate.
  • At least one major national Brokerage company will fail and close.
  • 30-40% of the Real Estate practitioners will leave the industry.

Happy New Year y'all!

7) NAR membership will decline by 30%

8)  Skill with SEO and SERP will separate the online winners from old school agents who have to buy their Google placement

Here's my Prediction for Real estate in the USA...Buyers will start buying again,

As they will realise that prices have fallen and affordable again and there are lots of Choices, so there are no excuses to not finding the right house! Start showing homes!

On CNBC Donald Trump the other night, he was asked "is real estate a good or bad investment"?

Donalds answer "Buy Real Estate within the next six months, that's when it will bottom out" and "Never Give up"

Donald Trump should be a spokes person for NAR or AR.

EVERYONE HAVE A HUGE YEAR IN 2008!

Not to brag....but go read my blog and decide what my stats are for being a step ahead or right??

People ask me sometimes why I blog in AR....it's to provide a legacy of when I saw a trend or noticed something that would become newsworthy. We laugh locally at how long the our News media is behind on providing info on the same topics and also wonder ....are they getting their ideas from our blogs!

One saying that I believe is applicable...you can't predict the future if you don't know the past!

I'd also suggest that you all take the quiz on my blog to see if you know what's going on in the World:
