What Does a New Congress Mean to Real Estate?
by John Occhi, Hemet REALTOR®
As I am sure you know, the new 110th Congress was sworn in to office yesterday with the Democrats taking control for the first time since before Bill Clinton left the White House.
Many of us on the ‘right' cringe when we think of some of the things that may happen in the next couple of years.
However, this morning, when I read an update from the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) I was more than pleased to see one of the very first actions they have taken is to introduce a bill, H.R. 111, the Community Choice in Real Estate Act that will bar banks from getting into the business of selling real estate - something they have been trying to do for a long time.
NAR has worked long and hard on this topic and you can see more of what they have done by reading this page on their website.
What was great is that is was introduced by both a Democrat and a Republican.
What did Rodney Kink say back in 1992 when Los Angeles was rioting, "Can't we just all get along?"
Hats off to the new congress. May they continue to do good work.
Now Have a Blessed Day,
