Free Taxi Service from a local law firm

Since Colorado Springs Ranks #3 Drunkest City in the US, and New Years is a very "drunk" holiday, McDivitt Law Firm has agreed to pay for ALL TAXI RIDES to Colorado Springs addresses this New Years Eve.

Per the Colorado Springs Business Journal, McDivitt notes "I love this town, and I just didn't dream we'd have this type of drinking problem." and estimates that "30 percent of his personal injury clients were hurt in drunken driving accidents."

He estimates that he may pay for about 1,800 cab rides and the cab rides and CSBJ also notes:

"The free Yellow Cab rides will be given between 10 p.m. Dec. 31 and 4 a.m. Jan. 1 to anyone who has been drinking alcohol or who doesn't feel they have a safe way home. McDivitt was careful to note that cab rides will only be given to residential addresses and not from bar to bar."

Yellow Cab can be reached at: (719) 777-7777

Well Yikes..I would hope not from "bar to bar" but I bet they'll be some that would request a ride to another bar.

Happy New Year!

Mariana, great publicity for the law firm.  I wonder how many DUI cases that particular firm handles each year and how many are directly attributable to New Year's!

Wonderful public service.  Great public relations.  Great advertising for future clients with traffic citations, DUI, etc.

Drinking and driving kills.

Speed kills.

Speeding drunks kill more.

Hey Mariana - geez, I wonder how many will take him up on his offer, and how many really will try to go from bar to bar?  What a list to have made 3rd on!

Happy New Year!

That's a great thing that law office is doing for your city. I wish more people would step up to the plate.

Carole - I will!

Monika - I guarantee they will request bar-to-bar rides ... I wonder how th Cabbies will deal with that?

Brian - McDivitt Law firm is probably one of the areas largest personal injury firms. I am sure he deals with tons of these cases.

Neal - I am sure that this will be an expensive night for this Law Firm...

Lenn - I hope that he DOES curb the accident rate for this holiday.

Ann- Happy New Year to you too!

Linda- I think that it would be great to have a couple businesses go in on a venture like this next year. I guess I will see how much it winds up costing him and go from there...

Bill - I am going to a New Years party that is 5 houses away from my home. Maybe I should call a cab to drive me the 1/2 block home ...

Nice gesture.  I want to know how many drunks are going to remember they even have that phone number in their pocket? Or will act responsibly enough to use it.  I wonder if the law firm has commissioned the bars to put the drunks into cabs and bill them?

we have been informed no bar hopping on these cards and you must have a card for the free ride, us drivers were only given 5 each, so if you dont have a card sorry!!!!

Great publicity stunt, and not too expensive either.  Smart law firm.
