East Windsor May Get New Shopping Center and Hotel

At the East Windsor Planning Board meeting this month, the new owners of the abandoned trucking depot on Route 33 near Probasco Road discussed their preliminary plans to build a shopping complex, 100-room hotel and a restaurant at the site.

The developer, Blitz & Rosenblum, has not submitted a formal site plan to the board and is only in the planning stages of the project. According to their presentation, they are considering developing the site in few phases of construction, with the first including about 15 stores with a village type look. The second phase would include office space, a family-style restaurant, a coffee shop, and a 100-room mid-range hotel.

In order for the project to go forward, the property needs to be rezoned from its current status as research/office to something like a highway/commercial zone, which could accommodate the retail and office space as well as the hotel.
