horses in the pastureGolfers know never ever to get puffed up about a good golf shot.  You know the perfect shot that only comes often enough to keep you chasing that stupid white ball around a golf course.  Why? Because if a golfer gloats, brags, puffs up or gets a fat head, the rest of the game will be cursed.  Doomsday will come or seemingly so before another good shot comes along.

So golfers remain cool, calm and maintain a low profile.  Always, or else!

Here in the lovely Mile High City of Denver, we are having our 3rd snow storm, in less than 3 weeks.  The guys on the radio are now predicting a blizzard for every Friday. They have noticed a pattern here.

I'm afraid it's all my fault.

Yes, I brag about the awesome weather in Colorado.  Many, many New Year's Day found me and my hubby on the golf course somewhere, hitting balls in a real game of golf.

But not this year.  I think my bragging weather ways have boomeranged me right into blizzard hell.  The snow is falling and falling and falling.  My patio is full again.  So are my trash cans. There is no produce (worth buying) in the stores.

Yes, I own snowshoes, but my intent was to use them in the mountains, where the snow belongs (HINT HINT!)

Please dear Snow God, give me back my normal, bright sunny Colorado winter.  I promise I will never brag about our weather....

Send us something.  We need a weather extreme in MI right now.  Rain is not cutting it.  I am sick of rain.  My daffodils might come up any day now.  I want to see them in the real spring.

I feel just as guilty - sure Pueblo has 330 days of sunshine! And I can build you a new construction home under $200k. All true, but I'm going to stop boosting so much because it looks like I'm lying.

I got banana, as in Canon City and Pueblo are in the "banana belt"!

KK, Some of the courses are still open here in NH and that is way not so common around here.

It's the El Nino weather effect with the warm waters off of the Pacific Ocean I guess.

Don't knock yourself out over this one.

Stay warm and Dry.

Geez.  I heard the Denver report this a.m. and thought about Kristal.  I thank my lucky stars that we have rain today.  It isn't snow and I don't have to worry about my new landscaping.

I had a thought this week.  Whoa, it's January.  That means we only have to get through the rest of this month and February and it'll almost be spring.  Come on spring.  I've got 300 new tulips to feed the deer this spring.

Kristal.  My heart goes out to you and your neighbors.  We actually have entire winters here where we have maybe 2-5 inches of snow all winter.  I'm hoping for that.

Dena ~ I know you can build a house for that price.  Your dirt is cheaper!  You don't have to plow the freakin' snow off of it!  ;)

Jay ~ It does seem strange, so many places that are accustomed to this weather aren't getting it.  I really don't have to play golf right now, I'd just like to be able to drive on the streets without worrying about getting stuck or struck!

Lenn ~ LOL I know what you mean about the tulips.  I nursed a wonderful geranium all one winter only to put it out and have a deer eat it all gone the first day out.  We had 2-5 inches before I got out of bed at 5 a.m.  :(  grrrrr  It was 50 degrees yesterday!

KK...

We were in Denver in early May one year. It was a Sunday. The day started out warm and pleasant. The temperature was in the low '70's.

By 3pm there was a strong wind blowing dust all over the place.

By 5pm there was a raging blizzard outside our hotel room.

Just like Chicago! Except by 10am Monday most of the snow had melted and all the roads were drivable.

We went for a walk the other day...and lo and behold, there's a forsythia flower on the bush. Open and yellow! Maybe, we'll have a wet winter and you'll get the snow!

Are we seeing Global warming? or El Nino effects?

Kristal, how are those with special needs managing?  Especially the elderly in these types of weather.  I've seen some news report but many of the focus seems to be on the cattle who are stranded.  Our thoughts goes out to you all there.  Just be careful.  My sister is in ND she called me yesterday to say she got into an accident on Wednesday and ran off the road due to icy conditions.  Just be careful out there.

01/05/2007 05:26 PM by Netta Blackwood - REO/BPO Expert (Keller Williams Realty At The Lakes)

Tonight's news reported that some enterprising Denver folks are selling snow on EBay. Are you one of those? It was 60 today and people are still playing golf. Grass is green and growing as are some bulbs.

Oh, and Angus' cows are projected to go up in price due to your snow. He may take Lenn (Carnac) up on that cattle farm earlier than planned.

01/05/2007 05:53 PM by Elaine Reese, REALTOR® in central Ohio (Real Living HER, Worthington Ohio)

Eileen ~ I don't know where or why about the weather.  The "freak" storm you mentioned is one of those things that makes life exciting, but doesn't have a long effect...unlike what's happening now.  Oh well we will deal with it.. Like we have a choice!

Monika ~ I heard N.J. crocus are popping up too. If they come up now, it will ruin your spring won't it?  I guess that would be called an early spring or no winter...  Somehow I have to believe it ain't over yet...

Netta ~ I think everyone is hunkering down.  My trip to the grocery store last night was a perfect example.  The lines were so long.  Everyone was stocking up in anticipation.  The Cattle are hurting very bad.  I wish I could go lend a hand to the ranchers.  They are desperately working to get food and water to their stock.

Elaine ~ I'm not an Ebayer user...tried it once and I went nuts buying stuff.  Now I put it in the back of my mind and let others use it.  Much safer that way~

As per Angus' cows, they will be pulling high rates.  Our Colorado cows are suffering or dead.  It's very sad.

Kristal - you can still play golf every weekend - just fly from Denver (before the snowstorm, of course) to Tampa, come stay with us in St. Pete, and you can play a different golf course every time you visit - or as many a day as you can tolerate.

Kristal -

Now that I know who to blame! Let's have some sunshine here next Friday, okay? ;-)

Netta, I live near Cheesman Park in Denver (in the city, for you not familiar with the area) one of the biggest challenges for the seniors that live in my neighborhood is walking around outside. I've seen some walking down the middle of the street, walkers and all, instead of the sidewalks. Why aren't they on the sidewalks? Because some boneheaded property owners haven't shoveled their sidewalks. We have an ordinance in Denver that homeowners have 24 hours after a snow to shovel or get fined. One of the biggest offenders in this neighborhood is a multi-million dollar mansion...at least you know they've got a big homeowners policy should you bust your hiney on the ice.

For any of you Denver-ites lurking out there...break that ice up! Shovel your sidewalks people!

Pardon the rant. I've been out battling ice patches on my walks.

Veronica

P.S. Love your beautiful representations of our fair city, Kristal.

Sharon ~ the temptation is enormous!  Thanks for the invite, I shall be dreaming of golfing tonight...dare I tell my husband?  He'll be on the next plane!

Kitsap ~ you are very mean to me.  Just wait...

George ~ yes, it's one of those helpless times, I wish there was something I could do.  The dear are walking in the street, they are too tired to wade through the snow, its up to their bellies.

Joanne ~ send me your coat.  :)

Ines ~ I didn't order them, I just angered the Snow God.  oops.

Veronica ~ oh I so agree with you.  Trouble is the snow falls faster than one can keep up with the walks.  IN the city it is worse.  Cheesman is a beautiful place to live.  You should stop by my office sometime....when I'm there, we're at Colorado and Florida.

Thanks all.

Kristal- I'm right there with you ... Well, a little further south. I may have to share the blame. I am always "bragging" to my folks in the NW, "No way! I can't live THERE. The cloud cover would throw me into a pit of depression! I love it, here in Colorado where I get 300+ days of sunshine every year!" Now Im shoveling the walks all day long...

I guess we are due a bunch of wonderfully sunny days all in a row, huh?

On the good side... I bet we dont have as many forest fires this year... AND I bet we are not on a water restriction...

A-Team Episode Generator From egowar.com

Story by St. Paul

The A-Team is hired by Minnesota to go to Denver to rescue St. Paul’s Snow from kk, who is intent on taking control of Denver. B.A. is afraid to fly, so they hit him over his head and Murdock flies them to Denver

They arrive and go into the nearest Chalet where they get into a fight after asking about the client's Snow. They are overwhelmed by twenty or thirty really big villagers.  The little village in Denver is living in terror of kk and her accompanying band of thugs.

Murdoch convinces the villagers to let them go by saying: “Get your snow shovels and help us!”

Hannibal comes up with a plan. He has B.A. turn an ice chipper and a big shovel into a deadly Snow blower. Face pretends to be Rain god, but kk catches on and tries to punch Face. Murdoch rescues Face at the last second. Then Hannibal goes in their front door in their deadly Snow blower. They manage to defeat all the thugs. kk holds a gun to Murdoch’s head and escapes using the deadly Snow blower as transportation.  The A-Team pursues them. Murdoch shoots out the side window. When kk slows down to take a turn Minnesota’s Snow jumps out and is helped up by Murdoch. Face throws explosives, causing the deadly Snow blower to crash and flip over. kk climbs out unharmed. Face says “We STILL ain't got the Stuff.”

The A-Team leaves kk tied up for the authorities.

And in the little village in Denver there is much rejoicing. In order

to get B.A. to fly home though the A-Team has to hit him over his head. Again.

[The End]

Now you know who's next :)

Kristal - I feel so badly for you guys getting clobbered over and over as you have.  It's weird weather all over from the El Nino effect.  I got up this morning, here in New Hampshire, and it was already 58 degrees by 5:30am.  It's to get to 68 degrees today, and tomorrow about the same or a little cooler.  VERY strange weather indeed!

Ann, hoping the Snow Gods here your prayer....

Ann ~ sounds like New Hampshire is lovely right now. Are you working on your tan?  ;)

Linda ~ the worst effect so far has been the closings that are being delayed.   My folks can't get into the house until the sellers move out.  They can't move out until they can get a truck onto their street and so it goes....

Craig ~ It's nice to know other parts of the country are enjoying nice weather.  It would be awful if everyone had our weather right now!  I'm glad to know I'm in the corner of your mind....:)

Mariane ~ Hopefully the snow will help the water supply, but it would be better if it were up in the  mountains where we capture it for that purpose.  At least the most recent storm dumped on the ski areas  instead of just us.  What a difference 50 miles can make!

Kitsap ~ :-)

01/06/2007 11:03 AM by Rick & Ines - Miami Shores Real Estate (Majestic Properties)

Well, I've lived in 12 different places in the United States and, despite the atypical snow amounts we received recently, in my opinion, Denver still has one of the better climates in the country. I think only Southern California's is better. We do have some occasional unpleasantness/heavy snow, but I'll take that over broiling my brain out for 5 months of 115 degree heat or sweltering in 90% humidity and swatting bugs right and left. Denver's also the only place I've been where the weather can be 40 degrees and you can go out with a light jacket or sweatshirt and not feel cold. A similar temp in other more humid places is bone chilling.

Codger ~ I hope you have lots of ammo, there are many money motivated Rainers out here looking to make an extra buck.  Where did you learn how to drive a tank anyway?  WWI?  ;)

01/06/2007 12:56 PM by Kristal Kraft ~Denver Real Estate~303-589-2022 (The Berkshire Group Realtors)

kk: Tanks are a blast to drive! I had the opportunity to do so during a cross-training exercise in 1954 (decidedly AFTER WWI & WWII), smarty-alec! Easier than cars, 'cause if you hit something, generally the something loses (light poles, trucks, barracks, general's jeeps--you know all the fun stuff).

Portsmouth Temps - 1/6/2007 - Ann CummingsKristal - take a look at this pic - this was here in Portsmouth NEW HAMPSHIRE today, JANUARY 6th !!   73 DEGREES on January 6th!

We shattered a record for temperatures here from way back in 1913.  We are just as baffled by our weather as you all are by yours.  But, back in the late summer or early fall, they were talking about this being a very mild winter for us in New England because of the El Nino effects.  And look how things are going across the country!!

I'm sure you'll get back to your 'normal' Denver weather before too long.  As for us, as weird as it seems to be this warm here, it is kinda nice.  Not so great for those who depend on snow - snow plow folks, ski resorts, snow equipment sellers, etc.

Guess I don't want to change places with you...I'm not that fond of snow. As I have mentioned before its been absolutely tropical here in RI...we're waiting for the big Freeze. Quick question to prove a point. A lot of people are sick here and everyone is saying its because theres no cold to kill the germs. Whats the cold and flu status in Denver this year?

KK:

I think Colorado still has great weather.  Now that I spend a good part of my time in AZ . I do believe we (when I'm in CO) still have great weather.  Of course, easy for me to say cause I haven't been back since the 36-40 inches.  It really is a great place.  It's just that sometimes the good Lord has to punish Coloradans when they start feeling good about how things are goin.  This is the year for it to happen.

Monika, Karen, Ken and Ann ~ the weather seems to abnormal in many places.  What's strange for us is the frequency.  They are forcasting yet another snow storm next Friday...

Karen ~ I'm not sure if the sickness is related to cold.  My brother had some kind of flu after  Christmas.  for me, I'm feeling better now than I have in months.  Guess it has something to do about all the moaning and complaining I'm doing here in Colorado! :)

I went out today to my favorite place of buffalos.  When the snow first came they were pracing and romping in the snow.  Today they were bored with the whole scene.

kk, I did find one rainer from Col. that blogs not as much as you but Ken Deshaises is active here from summit county.  The others blog elsewhere as one from Denver told me and with all the snow you have there can't be much showing going on in that weather so you would think they would all have time to do it.

Hi Teri, Ken blogs frequently on his "other blog".  He used to be a regular here, but he's deserted us...:)

It should be gone in a few days. I'm so over this nasty weather.
