welcome to maine sign, turkey hunting, mooers realty No...I did not just call you a turkey.  Maine turkeys have not been around or plentiful for many moons.  This video gives you the reader's digest version of the sport in Maine.  Now I am not a hunter with a gun....and prefer to capture wildlife with a camera (whispering chatter barely audible in background).  I heard those comments...no this guy is not a vegatarian...and hunts for his meat at the cooler section of this local Houlton Maine grocery like everyone else.  But since Maine's license plate says "Vacationland"....its important to realize one more reason folks look forward to traveling to Maine...reason number 1701, "turkey hunting".  If you're going to chase the gobbler, here is the inland fish and wildlife video on how to do it.  Make sure to duck when the guy with the gun swings it around to where you are sitting...and remember, there is no such thing as an unloaded gun.

Do you have pheasants?  Someone brought pheasant to the last party I attended and it was wonderful!  We are not hunters either, but I enjoy others hunting.

YUP..the little varmits are in the pheasant infested woods they call Maine.  If you were a pheasant, this is where you would want to go to keep from ending up on the dinner table. Scope this site out! Thanks for pinging me! Happy New Year!

Great video Andrew.  We are very similar with out stocking program here in Iowa.  When there was once not even a turkey in Iowa, now there are thousands of them.  Now that we are in the dead of winter they are grouped up and easy to count.  I counted 75 of them in the cornfield in front of my house last week, and another 35 on the south end of the farm at the same time.  2 1/2 months to go before season opens here in Iowa.

Turkeys used to be scarce here but now they are common.  Large flocks seem to thrive in semi-suburban settings. Of course, we are starting to see coyotes, so that may be the end of the turkey flocks.
