Computer gremlins & spam ~ Here’s a tip for Gmail users

Computers are an integral part of the real estate business today. I am very thankful for computers and the ability to search for homes, share email, social media, maps, you get the picture. I’ve often wondered how real estate professionals accomplished their work before computers came along. I digress.... yesterday I experienced a gremlin attack, why gremlins? Because today, everything appears to be working fine and I’m not doing anything different.

Yesterday, part one of  my problem, gremlins. I logged onto my computer and it kept dropping me, I was searching for property one minute and the next lost connection. In the end I could not access firefox or google, franklymls, mris, iclipart, nothing. Very frustrated my hubby suggested I shut it all down (again) and give it a rest.  Rest? I didn’t sleep well wondering how I would fix this, conjuring up ideas to bypass the problem I had a few backup plans if Monday morning brought more of the same.

Part two of my problem, my client in from out of town with a very short window of time to find a home was not receiving my email searches or updates I had set up. I looked at the sent emails, everything looked fine, the searches had been sent, tried resending she was still not receiving anything. I called MRIS for help and voila the technician said check your spam folder. Here’s the tip, with gmail, because many people have listed property searches as “spam” gmail sometimes automatically sends home searches to spam from MRIS and FranklyMLS possibly others, the tech was speaking about MRIS, however, when I looked in my spam there was franklymls too.
