Reblog: My life and business as a movie. "Princess Bride Realty"

If my life and business were made into a movie, it would have to be The Princess Bride.  Not only is it one of my favorite movies, but it reflects on the zany real estate market in my area.  Here's my story.

As Westley, I headed off into the real estate field full of promise and hope for a prosperous future.  Before long, I ran into the Dread Pirate Roberts, who was the broker at DPR Realty.  It seemed like a good place to start my real estate career. DPR Realty had quite a reputation because of the broker. Dread Pirate Roberts wasn't a bad guy, but he liked his reputation.  He tried to maintain his image as a ruthless protector of his clients.  So, in his retirement, he turned his reputation and mission over to me, and I opened my own brokerage.

After a few missteps here and there I was soon on the trail of a favorite client, Buttercup.  She had been kidnapped by a few low level agents representing Prince Humperdinck Mega Realty.  But, I pursued her hoping to rescue her from their incompetence and unnecessary expenses.

After a brief dual, I overcame the low level agents and rescued client Buttercup.  Just before we began our life of showings, the broker of Prince Humperdinck Mega Realty, Broker Humperdinck himself, came waving his buyer broker agreement, and Buttercup was gone.

The tragedy of it all!  I couldn't let that happen.  She was marrying herself to a shyster and unethical broker.  He was willing to do anything to close the deal.  The client was the prize but seldom the beneficiary.

I formed a plan to rescue the fair client Buttercup before Broker Humperdinck contractually obligated her to buy a dilapidated old REO from Chase Me Bank. 

On the way, I was sidelined by my code of ethics commitment which made me weak and unable to continue.  Two great friends, Fezzik, who was giant in the real estate business, and Inigo, who was seeking revenge against the evil Broker Humperdinck's associate broker, Count Rugen, found me weak and unable to continue and they took me to their attorney. 

It was going to be hard because Humperdinck and Rugen were difficult to deal with.  Rugen was a ruthless associate broker.  It was said that he was so quick at tricking people into deals that he seemed to have six fingers.

Fezzik and Inigo took me to their attorney, Miracle Max, who was able to find a solution around the buyer broker agreement.  I was strengthened by Max, and I was off to stop Broker Humperdinck before he could consummate the relationship with Buttercup.

Just as I arrived at Castle Dr, Broker Humperdinck was having Buttercup sign the purchase agreement, but the racket of my arrival distracted Humperdinck from what he was doing and Buttercup retired to the lounge. 

Empowered by Max's miracle solution, I was able to break the buyer broker agreement and rescue Buttercup.  Inigo, found associate broker Rugen, and he said, "Hello!  My name is agent Inigo Montoya, you cheated my father!  Prepare to cry."  Inigo turned all of the evidence over the state real estate board, and associate broker Rugen lost his license to practice his six fingered schemes on unsuspecting buyers.

Buttercup, Fezzik, Inigo and I rode off into the sunset, and we all lived happily ever-after.  Eventually, Buttercup bought her dream house from DPR Realty.
