20 Years Ago in Los Angeles
Actually, my intention was to write this yesterday but business got in the way(don't you love when that happens) -- this weekend the media was covering the 20th anniversary of the Los Angeles riots in 1992. Where were you on April 29, 1992?
For me, it was before my career in real estate and I remember the smoky skies, the curfews, the devestation --- it was not a good time in the City of Angels. Are things better in Los Angeles -- what do you say?
Michael - I was scheduled to take my real estate exam, but the building downtown was damaged during the riots and the test site was moved to Anaheim. I watched the smoke-filled skies from my home in Palos Verdes and kept my teenagers at home!
Michael, I cannot believe that was twenty years ago. I was still in my first go round in real estate at the time.
It is hard to believe that it's been 20 years. I remember watching the news and just thinking how sad a time it was. I sure hope it's better.
. There is an issue with the way the police handled a suspect, so let’s burn down our neighborhood.

Wow... I sure doesn't seem right that it's been 20 years since the Los Angeles riots in 1992! Bad times for all, bad times for our country.
Norma -- so this is truly a day that you remember outside of the dramatic events that were taking place to the north of Orange County.
Chris -- first go round? Have there been many visits in real estate for you?
Paula -- time has a tendancy of moving too fast at times, doesn't it? As far as it being better -- well, I know people have many opinions on that subject.
Todd -- it was a terrible time in our history, that is for sure.
John -- definitely not a high point that is for sure.
Michael did you notice Rodney has cleaned up?:) he now looks like respectable now...amazing what money will do...
Endre -- you are right Rodney King has been more visible lately and not for any of the wrong doings he has experienced in the last 20 years. As for the money, I'm not sure if his financial windfall has been the benefit many people think. Yesterday, I heard an interview where he stated he should have stopped when the police first motioned him to do so -- if only....
Michael, I do remember watching the footage of the riots. I still have family in Los Alamitos and was glad they were out of harms way. Glad business is good for you. Sometimes it is hard to Play in the Rain when business gets in the way but it is such a good problem to have. Have a wonderful day!

I, too, have a hard time believing that it has been that long. I certainly hope that the devastation created new opportunity for those neighborhoods.
Michael - I was in middle school back in 1991 and while I remember the riots I have no clue where I was that day.
Belinda - yes Los Alamitos would be out of the direct line of confrontation during those terrible days.
Jeffrey -- sometimes it is hard to believe that it has been twenty years.
Suzanne -- I do believe there have been many new opportunities created throughout Los Angeles....in my opinion the city is a much better place.
Michelle - as a middle schooler, I hope you had other things on your mind then.
